So, when does everyone think that the Wii will be readily available in stores? I have been trying to obtain one; however, it seems that everyone is still sold-out. Hopefully stores will be getting new stock soon, and with the end of the holiday season, they won't sell out as quickly, but maybe that is just wishful thinking on my part.

Not sure how true this rumor is but I have heard not until March for Wiis & PS3s. I'm sure a few will trickle in from now until then. Toys R Us & Target usually get better supply from Nintendo than most retailers so you might want to keep checking there.

I scored one at Target today thanks to itrackr. They got a shipment in sometime around 10 or 11. Picked it up on my lunchbreak. Guy said they got about 20 and had sold through half of them when I got mine.

dang, wish my Target's got that many. I missed them by an hour at a few local Targets. They said they only got in a "couple" each. I also use iTrackr and got a text late last night that an EB in my area had them but I called this morning and they said no, I have a feeling they're lying.

I don't think I've ever searched so much for a system before, the hunt goes on....

Yea... iTrackr looks like a great service - I just signed up. However, they must be slammed because I can't get into the My iTrackr page... nor the Wii page. :(

I hope things clear up soon.

Was at BestBuy in Tracy, CA today around 11:00. Don't know how many they got, but I was able to pick one up. :) Just got lucky. I was not going to stand in lines or pay crazy eBay prices. Same thing happened with the PS3 I bought. Picked it up about two weeks after launch, just happened to be in an EBGames when they got in a shipment.

I tried for weeks in advance of Christmas to get one for the 3 kids with no luck. I had to wrap up a picture from an ad for them.

We stopped in at Target today about 10 am, walked past the wii case and it was empty. Kids walked back by it about 5 minutes later and promptly began jumping up and down and frantically searching for me.

Not only that but it was a wii sports pack, whatever that means. This Target got 18 of them in today.

I'm going to guess that it won't' be until the end of January at the earliest. I happened to walk past the game counter at my Target today around 12:30 and they had JUST gotten 6 (only!) in. They were quickly purchased. The employee didn't even have time to get the boxes off the pallet, as they were quickly bought.

Bought one today from Target around noon. Had a shipment of around 6 and when I got there, there were only 2 left (about 20 minutes after being in stock).

All wii's in the us come with wii sports :)

I was able to snag mine today (yea!! :)) after my brother called me saying a friend of his who works at best buy said they just got some more in, i don't even think they put them on display yet (if they even are) although by the time i was getting in the checkout line, i saw somebody else just finishing up his purchase. With mine i saw a total of 4, though i'm not sure how many they had total.

However just yesterday, after going though 3-4 stores that would sell game consoles, i noticed that none of them even had playstation 2 (however i did see a few 360's) so i imagine a lot of stores are currently drained from holiday madness on top of everybody wanting a Wii, so it probably will be a bit before getting a Wii is effortless (march seems a tad much perhaps) but with luck (and perhaps some people avoiding stacking up their charges post-holidays :)) It's still somewhat possible...either that or it's the one time in my life fate gave me a chance in hell at all to get something i want

Rumors are that there will be a major influx on sunday (along with PS3's), so if you have no luck this week, try sunday at all major chains. As for iTrackr, it's only as reliable as the employees who work there. I've had itrackr report a few target stores that didn't have the stock it said they had (and the stores stayed that way for a few days) as well as ebgames and gamestop stores that don't always update on time. So it's a pretty big YMMV on getting good results with itrackr.

IMO give it a couple of weeks and you'll be able to get Wiis. You can already get PS3s if you want them in stores, I saw 2 stores before Christmas that had them. All the Ebay scalpers are going to have to find something else next year to make a living off :)

Yea, I heard this before the launch of the Wii too. Then it was "a couple weeks after launch, but surely before Christmas you will be able to walk into stores and find a Wii".

I think the March date is probably the most accurate of estimations I've heard. :(

btw, iTrackr still seems broken. Can anyone get it to work, i.e. sign into My iTrackr?

I walked into my local Best Buy in Knoxville, TN yesterday and about 10 feet in to the door an announcement comes over the loud speaker saying they have Wii's available. I am not sure how many they had, but the guy had a large stack of vouchers he was handing out.

ditto with last poster, called all stores around me, including Target, no one has them, checked iTrackr, punched in my ZIP code, it says Wii spotted in local Target an hour ago ( same time I called there ). I figured, I got nothing to loose, go to Target, 4 Wii's sitting on a shelf like there's never been any shortage

no extra Wii'motes though, whole family will have to share for now, let the fun begin

thanks this thread for all info, especially iTrackr, never heard of it before

Just got one at my local Target (Framingham MA). They had 18 in yesterday, didn't know how many today, but they did sell out quick (person behind me had the last one).

Itrackr got me a wii and ps3, both at Targets.

Well, time to eat crow. :o

I had to go renew my car's license plates, so I passed by Target on the way. I figured I would never find one if I didn't go inside, so I went in and low-and-behold someone walked past me with one in a bag!

They got 6 in, and there was a guy ahead of me as they were bringing the remaining systems from the back. I was nervous they wouldn't have enough, or employees had claimed them... something would prevent me from getting this thing.

...but I scored! :D Thanks to all the posters who encouraged me to stop into Target randomly at 1pm!!! Sorry for my posts complaining about availability. :o

Now to go play Zelda.

Walked into my local Best Buy at 11:30 AM to buy a 360 membership card. Walked out with a Wii - they had about 12. Many people were happy. I paid $205 out of pocket, and so far am pleased at the price point.

I bougt a PS3 bundle for $750 a few weeks earlier and was unimpressed and returned it the next day. Nintendo has really made a comeback and are very smart to price this right.

Now availability of component cables and an extra remote is a whole other story...

I was at BB, CC, TRU, and Target today, none of which had Wii's in stock. The person at BB said they might get some in on Sunday, which prompts the question, "does BB get shipments on Sunday?" If not, then I can only guess they are just holding stock until Sunday, which is something I cannot understand. Perhaps they want to capitalize on the hype, with people coming in for a Wii and leaving with a bunch of miscellaneous items, but I, for one, am just as impulsive on Thursday as I am on Sunday

This friday dec 29th, amazon.com will have the Wii for order sometime, 7am - 11am PST, in the morning. This was on their page for the Wii:

"Wii Available for Purchase 12/29: The Nintendo Wii will again be available for purchase on Amazon.com on 12/29, Friday morning, at some point between 7am and 11am PST. We will be limiting purchases to one per household. We anticipate that we will sell through our inventory very quickly as demand for this product continues to be very high. At this time, we do not have any information on future Nintendo Wii offers, but we will post updates on future availability on this page."

I just got one thanks to itrackr. I had been calling every store in town for a week, and just missed out the other day at BB when they got 3 in, but I got to the store too late to get it. This morning, itrackr identified one Target in town that had a Wii in stock. I confirmed it by phone as soon as the store was open at 8:00, and got there to find two Wii's in stock. So itrackr did the job for me. Interestingly, I had just called up this same Target the day before, and the guy told me that he didn't expect any more Wii's until March. So don't believe everything you hear.

PS3s can be readily found anywhere here in GA. This could be the beggining of the end of Sony's reign. Wiis however are still very tough to find.

Toys R Us continues to put the Action Bundle 2 on their website. If you use Webmon on www.outtastock.com/wii you can probably score an online order fairly easy. there were like 6 times they opened the orders today already.

Just look at the available history log on that page. It pops up on 5-20 min timeslots every once in a while. I ordered one last friday, got it yesterday.

As I was typing this webmon popped up it's available again. For who knows 5-20 min again. But setup webmon and set the volume high. I bet you can score one this way. Without having to call/drive around.

Anyone who is still dying for a wii should have one by Sunday afternoon, Best Buy and Circuit City will be doing the Sunday wii launch again. Call your local BB or CC, ask if they are doing vouchers, find out when, show up.

FINALLY scored a Wii this morning at Target. For the past two days itrackr had sent me notification that they were in stock there, but I wasn't quick enough. I headed up there at like 10am and waited around with another guy for about 2 hours.. an employee walked out the back with a box of only 3 and I got the 2nd one, it was madness.

Gotta love Itrakr! Signed up yesterday and set up the cell phone alerts. Got a text message today that Wiis were in stock at my local Target and made it to the store about 10 minutes later. They had just received 8 units, and they wondered how I knew they had them, they were not out for display yet.

The kids are very happy. Alas, they have already knocked a can of open pop from the coffee table all over the DLP set using the Wii remote.

The Wii is very cool. But it can't connect to my wireless hub using WEP, need to figure that out.

I have both the ps3 and wii now and the two systems are so different from one another and the ps3 is still very hard to find in my area. I still think the future of gaming is going to be the ps3 but the wii is pretty bad ass except for the mediocre graphics. I just bought an extra controller from the nintendo website and some component cables because those are so hard to find around here.

I caved and signed up for iTrackr after I was able to confirm the data on their site with the stores. iTrackr warns the Gamestop and EB Games are slow to update, but when I checked with Target, two of the Targets in my area confirmed that they had recieved shipments around the time iTrackr claimed they did....so I plunked down the $1.99. Prices are slowly falling on ebay....down to about $350 shipped now. Hopefully that means we'll start seeing them on shelves soon. It's not that I want demand to slow down, but I do want to get one :D

as a comparison...just saw a 60GB PS3 go for $571+shipping (reserve not met) and the next one with an extra controller went for $660 shipped (also reserve not met) the PS3 ebay market is officially dead...i may not have the right to declare that, but I am anyways

If this link hasn't been posted yet, here's a site that says it checks inventory of your surrounding stores.

I think it is pretty funny that people take their own local situation and use that to make some comment about general availability or even the status of a console or company. In most areas, neither the Wii or PS3 is easy to find. The PS3s are put on the floor immediately upon receipt while many stores are holding Wiis until they have several to sell on a weekend, etc.

I suspect eventually PS3 sales will pick up and Wii sales will slow down, they are really different machines with different markets. There is some overlap but for many, it is not a choice between the 2, especially with the current price difference.

I am in the military out in the middle of the desert here in the middle east and i picked up a Wii here at the BX(exchange) there are no games for me to buy for it so the Wii sports will have to do but I think its so cool that they are hard to find back in the states. I can not stand the Sony PS1,2, and 3 systems they just don't give me that wow factor that you get from the Wii or xbox, and xbox 360.

If you know where your local pawn shops are you should check there, some of them make a killing off of electronics. One of the ones right off Ft. Eustis has a bunch of 360's, one or two PS3's, and one or two Wii's, plus a bunch of first gen HD and Blu-ray players.

I find it absurd that these things are still so hard to get. It's a major turn off for me when a company can't meet demand now almost 2 months after the product was released and quite frankly I may not purchase one because of it. I honestly think Nintendo is milking this for all it is worth (partially IMO because they know they stand no chance yet again in this consoloe war over the long term) There is no excuse why Nintendo cannot be shipping more of these right now. The PS3 is harder to manufacture, costs a TON, and Sony has now met demand at this point. I realize the Wii is in higher demand, but these should not be utterly impossible to find--maybe somewhat difficult, but not impossible.

Three local Targets in Bucks County PA had them this morning, and Toys R Us Oxford Valley had them yesterday morning (sold out at by lunch though).

(Tracked using itrackr. BTW, for interested locals, the Oxford Valley Target inventory has a problem and has been incorrectly showing them in stock for over a week. I stopped in twice... they explained the inventory problem. When other local Targets finally showed stock this morning, I tried Oxford Valley first because its closest for me and they finally did have stock. Guess they all got a shipment in this area. Not sure how long they will last today.)

I went on a quest yesterday in Olympia, WA to find a Wii. Struck out at 3 places, but lo and behold the ShopKo in Lacey had just got a shipment of 10 in. I did preorder Wii Play just for the extra remote.

I find it absurd that these things are still so hard to get. It's a major turn off for me when a company can't meet demand now almost 2 months after the product was released and quite frankly I may not purchase one because of it.....

Does it make any financial sense to build a new factory to meet a high amount of demand which will only last the first several months of release? It costs a ton of money to get production going in a new facility. IBM has other processor lines to make aside from the Wii processor. Molding companies have other plastic bits to mold aside from Wii parts. PCB pick and place companies have other circuitcards to construct aside from the Wii.

Sure, they could contract out to many other companies, but then differing quality control becomes an issue, along with distribution, shippint, etc.

Making a new product is very expensive. Sure they could have built an extra factory to meet demand, but once the demand starts trailing off after the initial spike, the new factory would ultimately result in a huge financial loss.

Indeed, the demand for the Wii is still huge. Consider that PS3s are now beginning to become readily available. Yet according to nexgenwars.com, the Wii has outsold the PS3 by about 2.7 million units. The demand is staggering.

I just hope it won't be too long before a full-blown golf game becomes available. Golf has been the most popular Wii Sport when I have gatherings at my place. Sure, there's Super Swing Golf, but from what I've read it isn't that serious, and the graphics in Wii Sports is better than Super Swing. (!!!)

I never like Nintendo's practices. But not much I could do since I am such a huge zelda fan. lol I got mine the first day though. if I was trying for this long and still did not have one, I would be very annoyed and maybe i would have just bought the GC zelda eventually.

Do you need someone in the States to buy games for you and ship them out?

Thanks for the offer but my wife has sent me 2 games. Ledgend of Zelda and COD3 now if the dang things would just show up here. I would like to get Elbits that would be cool. They have got oh about 15 Wii remotes here no Numchuks so if anyone needs a Wii remote they are $39.95 here.

I went on a quest yesterday in Olympia, WA to find a Wii. Struck out at 3 places, but lo and behold the ShopKo in Lacey had just got a shipment of 10 in. Of course, then I had to start a 2nd quest to find an extra Wiimote and component cable. That was a big strikeout though but I did order a cable online. I did preorder Wii Play just for the extra remote.

Thanks for the heads up, I finally found one at my local Shopko last night!

I got one yesterday (1/10) at Circuit City in Natick MA. Itrackr alerted my via email (but no phone alert for some reason) at 10:03am. I saw the email at about 11:20, called, and they still had 1 left (not sure how many they got in). Made it there in about 12 mins, got the last one!

The CC guy that I dealt with said that he saw roughly 2500 wiis in the regional warehouse, and that they should get more end of this week or next.

Got mine at an EB today. Just got lucky and saw a UPS truck pulling up after I was on my way out, so i ran back in and scored.

Had a BB gift card and grabbed Elebits, Zelda, and a memory card. No extra controllers to be found anywhere, though...or component cables.

At least the Wii shipments are somewhat regular and the shortage real. Unlike the N64 launch when they held back tons of systems and had parents fruitlessly searching for weeks then flooded the market right before christmas.

Nintendo has a habit of manipulating the market to their advantage and amplifying demand by implying scarcity. Though in the case of the Wii I think the shortage is real. They could be holding back, but I doubt it this time. The Wii has captured the public's imagination for the time being. Plus they're also building stock for the European launch. They should be pretty easy to find after March. That's my guess.

If you're looking for a Wii stop by the Times Square TRU. I returned mine there last week after the novelty wore off (though mine is probably gone too by now). My HDTV just amplified every flaw in the graphics and once Zelda was done I couldn't justify keeping it around.

If they can somehow manage to keep the demand going over the next few months maybe people won't notice that there are next to no games coming out and that the patented Nintendo Drought is again in effect. Unless you count those rediculously overpriced Virtual Console games of course.

The release list through to the summer is remarkably thin ... Warioware in January, just the Wii Play bonus disc in February, then just Mario Party 8 and maybe SSX Blur in March. There are some 3rd party ports of old games sprinkled in, but it's looking really thin through the summer. That should make more Wiis available at retail.

I have a feeling once the novelty wears off the Wii will be much more readily available. They just don't have many compelling games in the near future with Mario Galaxy and Metroid still MIA and one or both most likely slipping to the fall. I know EBGames lists Mario for April 1 but I'd be shocked if it releases before summer. "Nintendo" is japanese for "delay."

I really hope they release a black version of the Wii to continue to drive demand this spring. Unless they can get Mario Galaxy out. I'll get another Wii when the black version arrives.

I don't have a problem with the System being hard to find. What I have a problem with is the fact that they market this system as way for folks to come together and play. Focusing on multiplayer and folks having fun together yet the dang extra remotes and nunchucks are impossible to find in-store.

They should be able to produce plenty of these things when there main push for the product is people coming together and having fun.

I've been on a search for a week trying to find a remote & nunchuck setup. They are are VERY scarce around here.

I've heard BB and Target are getting a ton this weekend, but yet again Nintendo is telling them to hold them until that date (1/21) even though they'll get them in before then. If this is true I will seriously boycott Nintendo. Holding a product to jack up already high demand two months after it's been out? That is just lame, and an extremely unethical business practice IMO. This Wii seems cool and all, but my interest is waning weekly when Nintendo fails to come close to meeting demand two months after its release....especially when you can't even find controllers or component cables for the thing...there is NO excuse for that at all.

It's more likely the stores themselves are holding them so that the sales in their fliers mean something. They've done it before.

shook2323
01-16-07, 11:03 AM
The stores also like to tell customers when they can definitely come in and get one, even if it might mean getting there in the middle of the night. My two Targets haven't had anything since between Xmas and New Years, so I'd say they are certainly holding them until 1/21.

Check your local retailers this Sunday.

Employees at EBgames stores are informing customers those who want a wii to come to the store on Sunday. Apparently, they already have them but held until Sunday....may be Nintendo's request.

chiguy
01-16-07, 04:31 PM
I doubt Nintendo has anything to do with the store's holding them. They hold them because they put them as a featured item in their circular for the week. If they advertise they have them in their Sunday paper circular, they have to have at least some in the store or the ad can be considered an illegal "bait and switch". For some reason, the big stores seem to think they drive better traffic into their stores by advertising a Sunday sale and generating demand to be there first thing, instead of just putting them out as they get them.

YES! I just decided to walk through Zellers today when I was at the mall for a lunch break, and in the electronics dept....... lay 2 Wii's! I then saw 3 people standing outside the case... and was considering picking a fight with one of the lanky 40 year old hardcore gamers. :D

But turns out 2 of the people were together and they were just looking for the last controller. So I scored the very last WII! Apparently they got in 12 Wii's at 12 pm..... I showed up at around 12:40. I think since all EB games stores are saying no they never have any..... no one thinks about Zellers.

So i grabbed a copy of zelda and snatched a component cable for $40 from ebgames. I'm Happy, and can't wait to break it open later. Hopefully I can snag a controller on the way home.

Sorry if the following is old news, but--as some (many?) of you who are (still) looking for a Wii may know, CC will have a limited supply of Wiis this Sunday 1/21. If you're lucky enough to score one at CC this Sunday, you might want to take advantage of the $40 off $199 coupon that's available on CC's website. I dunno if I'm allowed to post a link to the coupon--if so, then I'll go ahead and provide the link for those of you who are interested. The $40 off printable coupon is legit (i.e., you can print the coupon off the website and can use it in-store w/o being told that it can't be accepted because you printed it or something like that), is good until 3/31/07, and does not explicitly exclude video game/video game consoles.

itrackr started showing a few Targets in my area as having them in stock.
So, I called one of the Targets and I was explicitly told they are holding them for their Sunday ad. So, I would say it's more fact than rumor - at least for Target.

I was also told they would be giving out numbers on a first come first served basis, etc.

It is a fact. At least for EBGames stores. They even went into details like:

"We didn't know until this morning when the corporate headquarter emailed us"
and "We will get at least 12 wiis and we are told, in the email, to hold them until Sunday".
and also they said there is a "discretion" in the email that "Any employee who caught selling the wiis (for this shipment) to customers before Sunday will get his/her employment terminated"

I checked this with a couple Ebgames stores in Mass on Monday.

My girlfriend has been going to EBGames and other places try to get me a Wii and has been told that they are holding them for ads, so she called the Nintendo US headquarters. They told her that any retailer intentionally holding supplies of the Wii from consumers would be immediately blacklisted and not shipped any more units. Nintendo told her to specifically get the name of the manager and the store and call them and they would investigate. I'm tired of these jackhole retailers.

Eh. I'm going to hit a couple of stores Sunday before work, methinks (around ~10:00ish), and if they don't have them then, I'm not going to go too crazy looking. This is a huge shipping, even if they are hoarding, so after this one, I don't think Wiis will be so incredibly impossible to find.

Add me to the list of happy iTrackr customers. Got the note that a Target largely on my way to work was updated overnight with stock, so I popped in a few minutes after opening at 8am. Had to wait for the employee meeting taking place in the middle of aisle to conclude (why do these places makes employees hoop and holler with fake enthusiasm? That seems cruel) but could see maybe 6 sitting in the case. When the lady came by, told her I needed a Wii from the case, without blinking she replied "We dont have any Wiis."

"Sure you do. Right there."

Not sure if it was a matter of her being unaware, or related to that "hold till saturday" thing that someone goofed up on. Anyway, one Wii sitting here in a box in front of me.

Was at our Target store 9AM in Shelby Twp, MI and unexpectedly had eleven and simply heard the clerk tell someone and they sold all 11 within ten minutes - it was like flies flocking to you know what! Most of us were older adults grabbing them so it shows the age range is broad on this thing.;)

They didn't have the wireless controller yet though but I can wait for that or get it on line. Gonna play some tennis and baseball today and get some physical activity while I wait for biking weather to return - something my 360 cannot do. Have FUN! jcgI can confirm the coupon does indeed work, even though allconnect has taken it down. I printed the coupon and went to CC with a friend looking for a 360. At purchase, the scanner could not read the bar code. The clerk examined the coupon very closely, looking puzzled. After a bit of silence, he got on the horn and called the manager. The manager pulled up a prompt on screen and told the clerk to manually punch in the coupon number. It went through and was accepted. Shaking his head, the manager looked up and asked "Where in the heck did you get this?"

Just cut out the coupon along the dotted edges, so the fine print isn't included.(it worked with the whole print out for me, but I may have been lucky) I'd advise cutting it out just to give them less reason to refuse it. The number on the coupon did work in their system, on a 360 purchase. YMMV

I've decided to just be patient. I've yet to see a single Wii unit, Nunchuk or Wiimote in any store in Dallas or Houston. The same goes for my gf. I give up. I'll just pretend that it hasn't been released yet, because for all practical purposes, it hasn't. Those who claim they have one I still don't believe. In fact, out of all the Gamestops, Best Buys, Targets and WalMarts in Dallas and Houston, every one we have been to has told us multiple times that they've not received any shipments since November and they're expecting them any day. That is about 10 Gamestops, 8 Best Buys, etc., etc.

Yet, the 'revolutionary' PS3 is stacked en mass everywhere I go, and Sony supposedly only shipped 1/4 of what Nintendo did with the Wii...

I thought this was a thread about the Wii's availability not the ps3's. What was the point in mentioning something that everyone knows? If you weren't biased, you would of said, "the ps3 and 360 are everywhere i go".

Alot of the problems is the stupid ebayers, I swear this one dork in line was braggin the whole time that he had multiple friends camping out all the stores so they could cash in on Ebay. The funny thing was alot of the people in line were telling him they were there for the same reason..

Honestly I think me and the group I was with were the only people in line that wanted a Wii to acutely use. We didnt end up getting one because the store we were at only got in 10 instead of the 25 they promised.

I wish these people couldnt hold the stock ransom like this, just because they have no jobs and can stand in line for 24 hours straight. If nintendo would just contact ebay i guarantee they would think about takeing those auctions down.

Ok,I'm done venting :D I wish I had a wii tho lol

What does Nintendo care, the ebayers paid the 249.99 plus tax for the unit.

Im sure Nintendo cares since probly half there stock is sitting in peoples houses unused on auction boards, which meens people that would normaly have those systems to play aren't buying the games or the perephirals to go with them. Which is what they make most of there money on to begin with.

But maybe they dont care, whatever.

Either way hoarding up stock so you can resell them for the tiniest of profits when an item is in high demand is just gay..

Yeah I lucked out this morning. I rolled by Target about 5 min after 7am and saw a line and was like maybe I'll just go back home. But then I saw the guy from the store handing out vouchers. So I said what the hell I walked over got in line just about 5 seconds before another couple got in back of me. I then see myself working my way up the line but see the vouchers becoming less and less to the point where the guy was like "20 , 21, 22, 23, and number 24." Lucky for me I was number 24. I was like wow how lucky and how close. The people behind me though were pretty pissed off and couldn't believe they just missed out. I then went and sat in my car until 7:50, doors opened at 8:00 I was the first to hand my ticket in and was the first one out of the store with my new wii. When I was inline I also heard how the first couple people in line where there at 3:00am and others starting to come at 5:00. I couldn't imagine waiting in 20 degree weather like that. Hell they had blankets and all. And my lucky ass strolling in at 7:05am and scoring one. Sometimes it's just luck and being in the right place at the right time. Also when I was sitting in my car for 40min there must have been another 20 people that stopped buy but where told they were sold out. Well thats my wii story and good luck to those who are still trying to score one.

This situation will correct itself soon, the ebayers will dry up once the market decides that it will not pay more than $250 for a wii. In terms of Nintendo, I think that they do care because what they really care about is selling games which have a very high profit margin.

I thought that this was the weekend that availability freed up, but I was wrong. It will come though.

If you want to look at the bright side, the demand for wii has been so strong that the people who program games will take notice and hopefully we can get some games that take advantage of the wii.

i can't believe these things are still flying off the shelves and are as rare as they were on launch day/week over TWO months ago!

the wii is doing much better than anyone though it would; i certain thought that after christmas it would be a touch easier to get one, but the fact that people are STILL camping out for them, and ebay auctions are still turning profits, speaks a lot.

nexgenwars shows the wii as having over 4m sold worldwide in 2 months, nearly half of the what 360 has sold ever since it came out more than a year ago.

Things aren't any better in the UK. I managed to get one just because I happened to spot a post on a forum saying that an e-tailer was showing as in-stock. Other than that, you can't walk in to a store and buy one anywhere, unless you fall very lucky. Remotes/nunchucks/wii play are easier to get, but I still maanged to want them on a day where nowhere had any !

So I take it that this past Sunday was a flop when trying to get one?

NOPE *does a little dance * *winces in pain* I got mine *rubbing shoulder*, and after playing it for about 8 of the first 12 hours I had it, I learned a lesson. STRETCH. Havent hurt like this since I played football...

We were in Mansfiled Saturday shopping for wedding shoes, and the better half let me search the local stores for Wii. I found Targent had 3 remotes and 3 Nunchucks. I snatched up a set, with weak hopes I would be able to use them before they gathered dust, but not wanting to be left without later. I doubt there were any left by the time I left the store. Checked at BB and they had no Wii, but I got an encouraging "secret" word of advice about Sunday morning.

On the way home someone called me to let me know that meijer was advertizing them for Sunday sale, so since it was 5 minutes instead of 45 away, I decided to go there first and save the later opening BB for backup.

I couldnt sleep, got about 1.5hrs. Showed up at meijer at 515 to a small line of 4. By 6 there was 9. Which was great because there were only 9 of us. Somehow the two ebaying bastards that came in latest, or next to latest, ended up at the front of the line. Not sure how they managed that. There would have probably been a beatdown had they not had enough for everyone.

So I went over to walmart to get games, only because I have gift cards there. Picked up a couple and asked the guy if they had any Wii, he said he didnt know, maybe he'd check. A good bit nicer that the other people there who usualy just laugh and blow you off. He found 5 stashed away in the back, that apparently they wernt supposed to sell until Febuary, but he grabbed me one anyway. I picked it up, im going to sell it AT RETAIL either to a friend or someone who really wants it and is not going to just sell it. I figured if I left it there it would just end up on Ebay with all the rest.

I wonder how hard these really would be to find if all these jerks wernt just buying them for Ebay. I wish there was a way they could get burned, but even if they couldnt sell them, they would just return them to the store. The only real way around it is for Nintendo to put out enough to make them available.

However it did dawn on me that I blew over $700 in one day just on this game system. Granted $100 was gift card and I will get back another $275 but still....
Wii: 270
second wii for friend 270
games 100
rechargable batteries 20
extra mote/chuck $65

25-35% is around hundred dollars or under profit per unit , plus you gota kick back some of that cash to ebay.

To me standing 8-12 hours outside in the cold so you can make roughly 10 bucks an hour is a tiny profit...thats what a taco bell worker in my state makes ../giggle

Just took a quick search of eBay... looks like this Sunday had an effect on resale prices. One system just ended with no bids at $360 + $30 shipping. Another was selling at $400, but it included an additional remote and nunchuck.

If the PS3 and PS2 before it are any indication, you'll have a dramatic swing in availability once the resale value drops to the point where resellers begin to ignore it. For one, that signals a good supply, but it also eases up on demand as resellers leave the market.

Got mine from one of the Best Buys in south OC, CA, where they had 51 units for sale. I arrived at 7:30am Sunday morning (the store opened at 10:00am). There were already 12 people in line, so I was 13. The people in line in front of me were on the phone with friends who had gone to the Target up the street. Apparently, they got 40 units, and all vouchers were accounted for by 7:30am. So lots of units available in my area.

Anyway, they handed out vouchers at about 8:30am, and everyone in line at that point got one, so obviously, the crowds weren't nearly as crazy as before xmas. However, within just a couple more minutes, after a few more people arrived, the last couple of vouchers were handed out.

From what I've heard, all of the Best Buys, Circuit Citys and Game Stops in my area got at least some for sale on Sunday. However, apparently only *some* of the Targets had them, but those that did had good numbers (like the one that had 40).

It also sounds like all stores in my area sold out (ie, handed out all of their vouchers) well before the store opened.

I can't believe I finally got one... it was seeming like an impossible quest for a while there.

One last thought... While I've seen a lot of other people here post about there being lots of eBay scalpers in line where they were, I had just the opposite experience. Everyone in line that I talked to was either buying for themselves or their kids. To me, waiting in line for 3 hours in the cold just isn't worth the possible $125 profit. My time and comfort (and sleep) is worth more than that.

I doubt that Nintendo would seriously consider taking action against retailers "guilty" of hoarding Wiis in such a manner--especially given that some of these retailers are Target, Circuit City, and Best Buy. Also consider that Target did a similar Sunday promo last month, and had just done so again this past Sunday in much of the country. I'd be willing to bet that Target--or any of the other big-name stores--would not be blacklisted even if Nintendo does find out that they've been "hoarding" Wiis.

Sure, it is quite possible that some of these stores may have gotten in a shipment of Wiis the night before...but let's be realistic--many Targets and Best Buys had as many as 50+ Wiis available for sale yesterday (Sunday 1/21); what are the odds that these stores received all those units in one single delivery the day before? That, and the fact that many of these stores even acknowledged that they had units available but were holding them in order to honor their Sunday ad probably shows that, if there were any retail laws against hoarding units, they are surely aware of it and have apparently found a legit way around it.

but you have to look at it from their perspective. they usually don't have jobs, so their time is completely worthless. ;) i don't think any normal, hard-working person has the time, nor the desire, to sit in line for 8+ hours just to make some quick cash.

plus; where else are they going to get money? by working? heavens no! where and why would they ever get a crazy idea like that? my bet is that they pick up the systems on credit. factor in interest if it isnt paid off, ebay fees, shipping, and paypal fees, and that "profit" is now very small or sometimes even a loss. a lot of times they dont factor all that stuff in and just look at it from face value [i.e. 350-250, i made a hundred bucks! woohoo!]

uh....yes it does...right below the coupon it says "quailifying purchases excluded gaming hardware"

i guess congrats to whoever got it to work :D
You must have looked at a different one; the one I'm looking at (and I'm staring at a hardcopy printout of it right now) does not mention any exclusions on gaming consoles:

"*Offer good for one use and applies to total qualifying purchase on a single receipt from 12/31/2006 through 3/31/2007. Not valid on previous purchases. Qualifying purchases exclude Verizon wireless, select Polk, Bose, Velodyne, Apple & HP iPod, Disney, Oakley and Sharper Image products, gift cards purchase, delivery fees, sales tax, and payment on your Circuit City credit Card. Valid in store only. Not combined with select Circuit City offers. Not redeemable for cash. Reproductions will not be accepted. Void where prohibited or restricted."

FWIW--the coupon I'm referring to was on a web page that showed two other coupons: one for 10% off any home theater installation, another for $60 off wireless network installation connecting 2 PCs.

In any case, the above is all moot since CC removed that page and have posted a notice in some (many?) of their stores stating that they will not honor that particular AllConnect coupon.

Coupon now dead on their site. Still might work in store if you find a copy, but it's no longer on the website.
The only way you'll be able to get that AllConnect coupon to work is if you get a friendly cashier who'll just override it and give you the discount anyway; apparently the coupon will not scan in their system, even if inputted manually. That, and apparently more than a few CC stores had posted notices stating that they were no longer accepting the AllConnect $40 off $199 coupons...

EDIT:

actually I realized I could finally get a good deal on the camera I want at CC, so i took another look at the coupon, and read the whole restriction paragraph..lol

"reproductions will not be accepted"
Like I said, that must be a different (updated) coupon you have; I guess CC must have realized their "mistake" and created one that excludes gaming hardware.

FWIW--the coupon I have in my hand doesn't mention anything about CC reserving the right to cancel the coupon offer, so I'll see if I can offer that as a potential argument for using it if CC refuses to honor the coupon. Not that I need to use it to buy a Wii since I already have one, but I could find some other potential uses for it...say an X360 HD-DVD player, or another PSP. ;)

Well...Walmart is getting some units in Sunday supposedly. I might nerd out and try going right at store opening to try to secure a unit, as long as it isn't some ultra early (and therefore "convenient" (/irony)) time. Though I don't know if Walmart is doing the hoarding thing like Target and Best Buy, and that I'm guaranteed that they're even getting units in Sunday. If I decide against that though, it would probably be another 11-ish trip before work to Walmart. I agree about the the ebay prices though, and I'm particularly thrilled about it. Give it another major shipment or a couple of small ones, plus Walmart, I think we'll see an end to the ebay buying craze, with only $50-$75 for profit. What really needs to happen is just normal shipments. Make the ebay hunters reeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaallllly work for finding their Wii's, and let the other people just stumble upon them.

Edit: Just checked ebay. A brand new Wii just sold for $320. And they all seem to be around that range and under. (A lot of 5 minute auctions with the price at $270 until the last 30 seconds. And when someone doesn't try to outbid again in that last 30 seconds for the 3 second left bid on ebay...) No problem I think for the next big shipment. The Walmart shipment will keep the famine of units from coming between the next big Target/Best Buy shipment, if they even do that again, and there will be a huge chunk of the competition taken out of people trying to grab the system.

I'm a 37 year old professional who is married and has a M-F job with pretty normal working hours. Spending 2.5 hours on a Sunday morning to get it wasn't a huge deal for me. I originally had no intention of waiting in any kind of line to get one... I figured eventually they wouldn't too hard to find and I'd probably have one by the end of the year. I have a Best Buy, Circuit City, two Targets and a Game Stop all within a couple of miles from my work, so once or twice a week, I would "make the rounds" on my lunch to see if I could get lucky and catch a shipment. I guess after doing this for several weeks, it became a bit of an obsession. So when I found out that there would be large quantities available on the 21st, I decided that "this is it. I'm going to get one." I still had no intention of camping out overnight, but getting up early and waiting for 2-3 hours was acceptable. Not desirable, but acceptable.

Yes, I realize that in a few weeks, they'll likely be much easier to come by (at least at the level that the PS3 is available). But I just got tired of waiting. I needed to play Zelda!!!

Da's cool. I'm 31, professional IT worker M-F. Up until recently I did the same thing almost 3 to 4 times per week looking for Transformers Alternators, which I collected. I ran myself ragged trying to find the latest, rare ones going to Target, Wal Mart, etc., and usually a month later, after all that running around, I'd start to see those very same 'rare' figures become shelf warmers as they are lovingly referred to... kinda like the PS3, heh.

eBayers do the same crap with the latest TFs as with the Wii. All initial shipments are borked by them and put up on eBay for sometimes 2x retail and people fall for it. I dunno. I guess I'm just an old poop... who likes to play videogames for retail prices or less...

I called BB last Saturday just because I thought it was "about time" that they should be readily available (I hadn't been keeping up with it on the net at all). I had been holding onto gift cards and Reward Zone discounts since before christmas.

Anyway, the guy told me they had none in stock and when I asked when they were getting any, he said he didn't know but to "check the Sunday circulars when they come out." I took that as a hint, and checked Sunday morning and lo and behold, there they were. :D

I may make a run to Costco tomorrow then. Costco always seems to be good for those rare items, and I really don't think its the first place people think of to grab an item. How much was the bundle? I already have Zelda, but I could always sell the games back to a Gamestop or EB, perhaps with full price credit.

See... THAT ticks me off. They will sell them for the same price as if they sold them right now!!! What's the difference! I wonder what they'd do if you spoke to the manager with the Nintendo hotline number ready to dial in your cell phone? Unless Nintendo was lying to my gf and me about Wii hoarding retailers...

I was at Costco tonight in Norfolk, Va. They had the Wii listed on the sign out front. I asked the lady checking cards at the door if they actually had any and she pointed me to the end cap of the second or third row. they had about 10 or so left. They got them in today and had no idea they were coming. That was from one of the Managers who saw me with it at the check out. Not sure if there will still be some tomorrow but I just wanted to share.

I see that even by page 6 of this post, some folks still haven't figured out the "getting a Wii" trick.

Look at the Sunday circulars on Saturday (most homes get their ads on Sat). If the Wii is in the ad, that store WILL have some available. Then pick and choose which one you want to wait in line. If you are smart and live close to a large mall, locate an EBgames or Gamestop or someother store that usually carries a Wii's and focus on their ads.

For example, EBgames this past weekend had it in their ads. I know an Ebgames in my local mall. I found out that the mall opens on 7am Sunday to allow mall walkers in first. early Sunday morning, I head to the Ebgames in the mall, and get in line. I'm #2 ;) They don't open until 11AM, but that's no biggie, I just brought a book w/ me to read.

No freezing weather, no blankets needed. Heck, there were even chairs and benches right in front of the EBgames we used...lol. BTW, this is my 3rd Wii. The first one I got for myself and the 2nd and 3rd ones I got for family friends and relatives. It's much easier than heading to all the stores in the area to find one. Unless ur lucky and many on this forum have been lucky, its a very long and hard road. I know...I used to do that. Now I just look at the Sunday ads....or befriend a local ebgames or gamestop manager and maybe they'll hint to u when they get a shipment next. That's how I scored wii #2 ;) It never hurts to make new friends. LOL.

They are not "Really" hoarding Wii's. They are required by law in many states to have IN STOCK any items listed in their circular. Many go as far as stay "quantities limited" or "At LEAST 10 in stock" They don't want to be sued for pulling bait and switch tactics. That's why all the major retailers GOT their stock in on Friday or Saturday and have been holding them until a Sunday sale. I know for a fact that the EBGames got their stock in on Thursday and held it until this past Sunday for their sale. All 21 units hidden in their storeroom. It sucks, but its company policy for many places. I've even heard of managers being fired for selling them too early. The last thing any of these stores want is a stupid class-action lawsuit filed against them for false advertising and bait and switch tactics over a game console.

I managed to get one last Sunday in the Boston area. I waited outside the Target in Woburn, MA starting at 7:15am. Around 7:40 they handed out tickets and we all went to warm up. At 8, they let us in and processed us in number order. It all went great. I ended up being #25 and they easily had 50+ units. People that showed up at 8am on the dot when the store opened were also able to get units without waiting outside at all.

Where I live (New Orleans) its not quite that easy. If the major stores run and ad like you describe, you're looking at a minimum 12 hour wait.. for a max 10-15 units per store.

When I got mine, they kept saying there were different numbers of units. lol I bet someone who worked there took a couple as the real # ended up being 2 less than they said at one point.

Also they counted an empty chair as 1 person because people sdaid he was in the restroom, but it turned out his friend was holding his seat for him so there was 1 extra wii and they turned away people who would have got that one if they knew.

First of all, waiting in line for a Wii, IMHO, is not 'smart' and I consider it an insult and refuse to stoop to performing stupid pet tricks for a game console.

Secondly, they don't run circulars until the morning of the 'sale' here. The past Sundays I know about where they ran a circular with the Wii were put out the morning of.

Lastly, I know of 2 Gamestops who've sold Wiis to their friends while they were 'hoarding'. Unfortunately, I heard about this after the fact, so I couldn't participate in those 'presales'. And I don't want a lawsuit. I just want someone reprimanded or fired, even though it might be company policy. I don't like their policy, I want it changed and I'm the customer.

Same here. Best Buy, Circuit City, and Target all get Black Friday-esque lines when they put the Wii in their Sunday ads.

My best shot is the local Gamestop. I've got their shipment arrival times wired, and this week I'm doing some offsite testing near them. Two different (surprisingly intelligent) employees have given me the same story - random shipments of three Wiis come in once or twice a week. Maybe today is the day...

There are many websites that show what is going to be in the ads before they come out so you can know ahead of time if the Wii is going to be available. I waited in line on launch for the wii and it was well worth it, my friends and I have been enjoying it for two months now, we think it was very smart (although I only was in line for about an hour and a half).

If you have information of any managers holding stuff for people at any of the EB/Gamestops, I would suggest that you call their 800 number and complain. On another forum, that's how one guy got his local manager fired last December. Just a thought.

As far as the "not smart" comment. *shrug* What can I say? For those who want one badly enough, they will find a way to get one. It just takes some determination and effort. Stupid or not, my friends and I have been enjoying our Wii's since launch day while others are still looking for one.

BTW: I hit up my local EBgames almost everyday. All the employees and managers know me and I always hang around to chat with them about anything and everything. For those who are still having trouble, try befriending someone there. I've been tipped off twice on when they are getting shipments this way. ;)

Do a search on Google. There are tons of sites that give you PDF's of upcoming Sunday circulars. Heck, I even had my in-laws checking out their local stores from time to time looking for one. Like I said before, it just takes some persistence. It'll pay off eventually.

Score! They got a shipment today - the girl actually asked me "do you want to buy one" after she told me they came in on their delivery. LOL, yeah.

I'd second the comment about befriending the folks at Gamestop if they're intelligent people. While the local Mall Gamestop is filled with idiots, the standalone store down the street was always honest with me and gave me good information on how many they got per week, how often they were delivered, and what time their delivery truck made its rounds.

Maybe it's just here, but I'd rather wait until 2009 to play a wii then try to befriend somebody that works at a gamestop. Also, I don't know why they feel the need to harass me into preordering a game or buying there 10% off used games card but they just don't give up. It's a video game, if I don't have it right away, I don't care. I go in there about once a year at this point.

I refused to do the stand in line thing so I ordered the walmart bundle last friday. It looks like it should be here on Friday. A week from order to delivery isn't too bad and I can return the games I don't want. Outtastock has given me a number or chances to buy a wii over the last few weeks.

I know exactly how you feel, because the majority of GameStop employees are worthless. I drove by the very GameStop I mentioned above for over a year without ever setting foot inside based on previous experience with the chain. The employees at the mall are a perfect example, doing things like stepping in front of me to restock the very shelf I'm looking at without even acknowledging that I exist.

This one particular store actually (and surprisingly) provides a positive experience - they've never pushed anything on me, and their advice in other gaming areas has been good.

Besides, I resent bundling and hoarding units for Sunday ads much more than the usual GameStop "service".

Yeah, I hear ya. Some of the bundles they put together are outrageous and why I didn't get one sooner.

If I'm stuck with a bundle though, I like the way walmart bundles as I didn't get stuck with any not needed accessories like sd cards or magazine subscriptions. Also, you get to pick out the games that come with it and can return any games you didn't really want. So in the end I just bought a wii with the games I wanted.

Yeah, their "player's choice" bundles are nice if there are enough games available to fill it out. I would've sprung for one, but the Wii really is for gaming with the wife so I want to rent games and make sure she enjoys them before I plunk down my money.

It's funny how system trays, controller skins, service plans and magazine subs have replaced cheap 3rd-party controllers in the world of overpriced bundles since their are no 3rd party controllers for the Wii.

You can return the individual games to walmart unlike some of the other bundles where you have to return the whole bundle so there is really nothing to lose. I'll keep a couple of games and return the others. Throwing down a few extra bucks as a short term loan to walmart doesn't really bother me.

When I ordered it was the holiday bundle but it looks like they figured they could milk people for one more game with the players choice now.

Well last night we got one at our Costco (it was actually for my brother). I wasn't sure about spending the money on the bundle so I checked Itrakr today and saw a couple of stores in my area have them in. I called one Target and sure enough they had them. I couldn't leave though as a new AC/Heat unit was being installed at my house. So check Itrakr later in the day and see that Target is now sold out but a Circuit City has them. So we head out there and get greeted at the door with Sold Out. I check their site again on my blackberry and they still say instock. So we go in and ask...Sold Out...whatever. The Costco is just down the street so I head there. The sign was still up outside so I decided to go see. Sure enough they still had 2 left. I grab one...notice the single PS3...and head up front to check out...the search is over!

People on the phones being idiots is one thing that prevents peoiple from getting them also. I rememebr back before launch I kept calling this wal-mart to ask how many they would get, when they would go on sale, etc.... and she kept just saying "I dont know" and didnt try to go find out or anything. I just decided who cares, I will go to the other wal-mart, where they DID know and told me the truth pretty much.

No luck at Walmart last night, after hearing some were selling early. And the only Target that had them in stock was 45 minutes away, and that was 45 minutes for it to potentially sell out. I did happen to notice that Walmart had some new Wii accessories in, for what that is worth.

But to answer one of my own questions that I asked before, Walmart opens at 8 on Sunday. Wii's are now going for about $300 on ebay, and for $380 some on Amazon (when two weeks ago, it was $520 some) which is good news in the demand department.

But what day is Walmart really selling their hoard on? Wii Seeker says Sunday, the 28th, but various people in this thread have said the employees were told to be holding till February. Any ideas?

This is a quote from the guy who actually wrote the 'wrapper' for that Wii inventory search. Pretty sad and proves that these retailers are doing their customers a disservice:

And yet, still no Wii for us. At the Target closest to us, availability changed from out of stock to available. I went in this morning and they said they had no Wiis. I scanned the UPC code for the Wii in their scanner, and it said it was in the stockroom. Employee still denied they had any. Other Target did have them, but ran out before I got there. Giving up on this for another week…

My wife was walking around Target today after lunch and noticed a Wii in the display case. She asked if she could have it and it turns out it was the last one. She told the clerk she heard they were the "hot item" and the cashier said people have been calling about them nonstop. Itrackr didn't say it was in stock (in fact it said this location hasn't had them at all the last couple days). I don't know if it was an extra shipment or not, but I wasn't expecting to get one until March (my birthday) so I'm pretty happy now.

I play tennis competitively, and despite the knowledge that it didn't make a difference I was using my full strokes, even moving my feet like I was on the court. Realized I needed to stop when I broke a sweat in my 70 degree living room.

Well I went to order a Wii bundel off of walmarts website last night, and they ended up selling out. So I was depressed this morning ,lol.

Then my girlfriend called me at noon and said she was in Circuit City, and they just got in 7 Wii's..so she bought one for me. She said they instantly sold out in under a half an hour. I'm at work right now, but I havent been this happy in awhile lol. :D

Walked into Future Shop looking for a new Blu-Ray to watch on my PS3. Walked out with a Wii, cables, Splinter Cell AND a new Blu-Ray to watch!

Went into Target yesterday and they had three of them on the shelf. Picked one up. Also got an extra remote and a 2GB SD card.

SCORE!
I forgot one target on the way to home from work.
That site showed wii remote and nunchuck was available.
Stoped in and grab 2 each and they were last of them

Time to play my son (6 yr) on boxing.

This is exactly how I got mine today! I just entered the zip and got lucky. I did have to drive 30 miles but the search is over. Target in my area received 10 units, sold out in 2 hours. I received number 7.

I lucked out again. My coworker just got his Wii yesterday and was looking feverishly for Wiimotes. I checked on itrackr for him and he called up a few places but couldn't find any. Well last night he found a couple and picked up a controller + nunchuck for me. I know it's silly, but I feel like I won a mini lottery.

And I found that my wife, who hasn't played a video game since NES, is better at Bowling than me. It's so nice to be able to finally include her in one of my biggest hobbies now. She didn't like Mario Party because there were too many buttons, but she loves Wii Sports so far.

How does Target work for extended warranties?

I believe it's $29 for 3 years...there are gift card type deals on the racks with the accessories, I assume you pluck one off at the same time as your purchase...don't know the exact coverage details.

I used the inventory checker linked above, supposedly my nearby Target has them in "limited availability", but when I got there they said no...(it still says they're available right now) I wonder if they're giving me the runaround? How do I call "BS!" on them?

I called earlier today and they said they had 3. I went over during lunch and there was one person working the whole electronics section. He was already helping other customers and was clueless about what they needed. I waited around for 15 mins and no one helped me so I had to leave.

I didn't see any in the locked cabinet but maybe they were in the back? Is there another tracker that does more stores than just Target?

At the moment, I'm having equal, if not more, fun with a free game on the Wii (Wii Sports) than an imported copy of Motorstorm on the PS.

Update
I was so excited getting extra controller, I played boxing (wii sports) against my son. (6 yrs old).
And I wish that I should of waited getting remote. Because he kicked my *** in second round.

I guess I better practice after he goes to bed tonight and challenge him this weekends. :)

I love, I meant WE love our WII.

Unfortunately we seem to be in a drought right now and I'm not aware of any true tennis or hockey games coming up. Droughts never bothered me before - either I bought the console well after its release, was a kid and couldn't afford many games anyway, or just wasn't as hooked on the system as I am my Wii.

If you like Wii Sports you may like Feb's Wii Play disc. Wii Play is a lot like Wii Sports in that it's a collection of various games. From what I hear it comes with a ping-pong game and an air hockey game. It comes bundled with an additional wiimote so it may be a good deal for you. I think it's $50, and from what I hear Wii Play is not worth $50 alone, but when including an additional wiimote it's a great deal for only $10 more dollars.

I got mine today! No standing in line or nothing! This morning I checked the link posted earlier (not Itrackr) in my daily Wii availability sweep and found that my closet Target had "Limited Availability". I then planned to head over right after school. Haha. Half way through the day I decided scratch that. I thought I should come home and check how the stock is going before wasting a trip. Believe it or not, not only one Target had a Wii, but 5 stores is my area! And get this: The one I was planning on going to was sold out now.

So I hop in the car and SPEEEEEED over to a Super Target as insanely fast as I could. I get in there, look in the case, and not only do I see one Wii, but TWO!!!! I couldn't decide. Should I stand there guarding my precious spoils and fend off the nerds, or try to seek an employee to open the case. Naturally, I went with the later. Two employees walk up to me. I ask, "Can you get something out of the case for me?", on a chocolate cake sugar rush that I happened to shove down my throat before I departed. The girl responded. I noticed that it happened to be the same dreary looking teen who interviewed me for a job at this Super Target last year-I didn't get the job. "What would you like?" "A Wii." I stammered, pointing to the display case still safely guarded within my site.

"Those Wiis? I'm sorry, but those are just display boxes." "Oh." I muttered, realizing for a brief second that the chase for a Wii was still on. A small moment of silence. The look from the guy with her didn't match up.

"Just kidding." She says. Turns out she was just teasing me. After a couple of exchanges from the works and how mean that trick was, she brought out my Wii and checked me out. Mission finally accomplished.

I love my Wii. I can't believe how great it feels to control. At first, I didn't like the controls, but now I love it.

Another side story: This morning, me with my hopes all up for a Wii, my Government teacher completely went off on people who play video games, when talking about how consumers create demand. Just for the record guys, and this is the official word on the subject: Anyone who stands in line for a video game console, especially over night, is an idiot. And any adult that spends all it's money, and I quote, "...On Wii games is an idiot, and won't have any more of his pay check to spend on food for the rest of the week. Not that those people deserve to eat if their going to spend all their money on Wii games." But it's okay. This lady is a *****.

The games from N will be good for a little bit - maybe a week or two - but I need my professional gaming fix - games that specialize on the Wii and use the Wiimote as an essential part of the game. I'm finding it very hard to get into Splinter Cell due to the uselessness of the Wiimote and horrible controls. I just hope EA or ESPN are suiting up to deliver some quality sports games, as always, that actually treat the Wiimote as they treat the analog stick (meaning they give it attention, not port over the controls).

Anywho, back to Tennis. Anybody know if the skill levels go any higher than 2000 for your opponents?

My girlfriend and I went to Houston today for some bidness. We hit no less than 18 (yes! that is eighteen) stores in all on the way back to Dallas looking for a single Wii. Best Buys, Wal Marts, GameStops, Targets and Circuit Citys. Not a single unit anywhere. You know what I heard multiple times? "We are out and haven't seen a shipment for at least 3 weeks.". One Best Buy told me they received 12 yesterday but sold out the moment they opened. The rest of the stores told us nothing for weeks and nothing expected for the next week.

Mind you all of the stores we hit who claimed to have not seen any shipments for weeks had reports on iTrackr for the past 2 weeks of "In Stock" from day to day.

My conclusion: You absolutely cannot get a Wii in Houston. Those who claim to have gotten one are lying.

Just kidding about the lying for those who have one. I'm so frustrated. I give up. I couldn't be more pissed off. Utterly ridiculous.

They'll be available soon enough. Or maybe not soon enough for some, but eventually. I'll do the same thing I did for the 360. I'll just wait about 7 or 8 months until it becomes easily available.

Might as well put it here as well:

I have one Wii, for sale, NIB, retail price, you pay actual shipping.

The catch? You CANNOT sell it (at least not for profit)

When I found mine, I found this one shortly thereafter, and figured if I left it there someone would just put it on ebay. So $265+ actual shipping costs and it can be yours. Im kinda new here, so if you want refrences or whatever just ask. I do accept paypal, but you must cover all fee's. Since I cant kick the Ebay'ers in the nuts, best I can do is help someone who really wants one to play, get one at retail price instead of having to wait or pay extra.

I have decided to give up the useless fight. I have seen so many Wiis for sale on eBay it just makes me sick. I won't buy from idiot rebayers, even though I was seriously considering eBaying some PS3s, LOL! I'll let them take the loss and just buy retail when they become readily available. You mean like the jerk on the big auction site that's got 10 Costco bundles up now?

The good news is that none have sold for $460 w/ free shipping. If sellers can't even command $100 premium on the sale price, not to mention having that gutted from shipping and fees, hopefully they'll get out of the market.

I think you'll see availability take a wild swing once you reach that point. For one, it signals good supply. It also decreases demand once the resellers leave the market.

This might help people in NYC or visiting NYC in the future ... stopped by the Nintendo World Store at Rockefeller Plaza between walking from an edit back to work ... they had about 30 Wiis stacked up behind the counter, stacks of Nintendo-branded Component cables, and bins filled with Wiimotes and Nunchucks. Also seen the Wii at several Gamestops and at Toys R Us in Times Square, but I think the Nintendo World Store has the steadiest supply. There were some people buying the Wii who randomly walked in and it seemed like they'd have enough in stock to last at least an hour or two.

They said they get shipments in every morning and (lately) around 430 in the afternoon every day. So the Wii supply seems to be catching up with demand.

hey rooney, i've had good luck using iTrackr. just so you know, i've gotten alerts that stores get them in, and after calling that store, they CLAIM they don't have any and i walk in, and sure enough, there they are. in other words i wouldn't totally trust the person telling you "NO". i think they are just getting tired of the calls, and now that is their standard answer.
