I'm looking at purchasing the Da-Lite Cinema Contour 92" HDTV screen that I will be shooting at with a Panny PT-AX100U and I'm wondering which screen surface would be best.

Ceiling height = 8'
Room size = 17.5' long x 15.5' wide

I'm trying to deside between the following:
Cinema Vision
Da-Mat
High-contrast Cinema Vision
High-contrast Da-Mat

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Thanks for the info! This is my first projector and screen so I'm really trying to do it right the first time if possible!

Get samples before you buy, Iīm sitting 14 feet from my screen, and I could see VERY obvious surface sparklies with all da-lite screenīs that had any gain above 1.0(hccv, cv etc). I got the samples a few years back, I have no idea if they have improved their surface or not. I also noticed this effect on Stewart screens(but they have improved them from that point).

It's not on your list, but I'm really happy with my Da-Lite Video Spectra 1.5; a 106" version at 13 feet on a Panny 900 (half the lumens of yours).

From the small sample I got, I really didnīt like the Video Spectra. Not only did I see sparklies, but there was also a horizontal texture.

I appreciate the feedback from everyone. I'm leaning towards the High-contrast Cinema Vision unless I hear that this is a bad choice for my situation.

My advice would be to call Da-Lite and ask for samples of the screen materials you mentioned and see how they look. HCCV (as stated on their website) is designed for moderate output projectors whereas HCDM is designed for high output projectors.

The HCDM is much darker than the HCCV and appears to be gray vinyl whereas the HCCV is a lighter gray vinyl with an optical coating to improve gain. It's this optical coating, IMO, that you can "see" in bright scenes with a bright projector. I'd bet it looks absolutely awesome in a dark theater with a less-bright projector.

I have a HCCV screen and the picture looks great, except you can see the screen when the picture is bright. It may or may not bother you (very personal preference) but its something you should check out first if you can.

BTW, Da-Lites customer service, for me, has been outstanding.

I have a HCCV cinema contour 92" with pro trim if you are still looking. It is listed in the sale items thread.
