So I'm having some problems with a TV I got from a friend. He said I could keep it because it seems to act up from time to time. It's a 32 inch (at least I think it's 32) CRT TV. I've used it now for over a week and it's worked great, picture looks good (with the exception of the picture being stretched out, dunno how to fix it) until recently. Now, almost any random moment the TV will make a sort of loud "screeching" noise, almost random grinding like sounds before the TV shuts off. Anyway, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If I could fix this TV that would mean a free 32 inch for me! Thanks in advance guys!

Try reducing the "white level" (AKA "contrast" AKA "picture") I don't know what name Sanyo uses for this setting.
High white levels tend to tax the TV's power supply (resulting in bent vertical lines) and can also cause the picture tube to burn out prematurely.
I kind of doubt this is the problem, but it's worth a try. If the problem is caused by anything else, it will most likely require someone to remove the back and test circuit boards, etc.
Also, is the set more that 1 year old? If not, it might be under warranty.
