I'm a little surprised noone here has discussed this film. Needless to say Will Smith was unbelievable in this role...definately stretched his acting skills. I would be all for a Best Actor nod AND win @ the Oscars for this film. His son being cast as his son is what really drew me to this film just to see the interaction between the 2,etc.

Wife was very apprehensive about having a `date night' to see this film :o ...@ the end she was crying so, nuff said! :D :D Most of the audience was as well!

4/4 stars!!

I agree whole-heartedly, they both did exceptionally well on this project. Going into it I thought it was going to be all hype, but the story was rivetting, the performances were on point, and knowing it was based on a true story was even more of a draw. Keep your fingers crossed for Will!

Good movie, but it was fudged for hollywood purposes...

The actual chris gardner received a $1,000 stipend during his internship...He wasn't unpaid, like the movie shows.

I agree. Good movie and another solid performance from Will Smith. I could see a Best Actor win here for him.

i loved this movie - unfortunately it was just a bit TOO long - some parts dragged.. but i would give it 4 stars too!

I thought it was very good. I think it's fair to say it is based on a true story, it is not a docudrama. There were many changes made for dramatic purposes, and most of them made it a better, tighter story IMO.

It did get a little slow in parts, and they didn't take many chances (e.g. maybe show a less sympathetic side of Gardner), but overall a very watchable film.

I also enjoyed seeing Dan Castelleneta for a change, instead of just hearing him.
