Greetings. This is my first post after reading these forums for a while. Over the summer I purchased a Hitachi 51F510 from a friend when he upgraded to an LCD. (He took good care of it, and only used it maybe 2 hours a day for a year or so.)

It has worked fine ever since, but over the past couple of weeks, every 5-30 minutes or so, it makes a single clicking noise, perhaps some sort of relay switch? It makes the same click when I first turn the TV on. (This is also the same noise that my surround sound receiver makes when I turn it on.) The picture does not seem to be affected at all by this clicking. Like I said earlier, the TV works perfect. In fact, my wife had never heard the clicking sound until I pointed it out, and now she hears it every time. Whoops! :)

Anyone have an idea for what this clicking noise could be? I thought I'd check here before calling the local Hitachi authorized service center. Thank you!

Update! I was sitting near my TV while it was off all evening, and it was making the clicking noise while it was off as well! Hopefully that gives someone a hint as to my problem before making a $100 service call. Thanks!

Seriously? No one has any ideas? Have I posted on the wrong forum? Is there a better one for this type of question? Thanks.

Will no one point me in the right direction?

Thanks! Good to hear that it's still working fine for you. Mine's still clicking like crazy though. I guess I'll have to make that service call.
