My girlfriend was kind enough to buy me a ButtKicker amp for my birthday (today) but I'm curious what else I need. Obviously I need the shaker, but I think they make several models no? Which is best? I am going to mount it to my couch. Do I need to buy hardware for that? Any links would be excellent guys! Thank you.
The one you want is the Buttkicker LFE. IIRC, it's designed for lower frequencies than the ones they have for gaming and music feedback (Concert, I think it's called). If you are going to MOUNT it to your couch, there's really nothing else you need. Though isolators for the couch wouldn't be a bad idea. They do have a kit that you mount the shaker to, and then one of the feet for the couch sets on it. I believe that kit also comes with isolators. Seems to me that this would result in more shaking on the side where the shaker is, but I've not tried it.

Yeah I'd rather find a way to secure it to the center of the couch if possible. So just the ButtKicker LFE... Darin is this a good deal?

It's 129.99 for the ButtKicker LFE with $18.15 shipping so $148.14 shipped.
I can't open the link, but seems like a decent price. Not as good as getting the kits that have the amp and shaker together, but you already have the amp.

I bought two of the LFE kits, and use one amp to drive 2 LFE shakers and the other amp to drive 2 Acoustic Elegance AV15 subs. The kits were 349. with free shipping from a popular online retailer. I use the couch mounting accessory under one leg of my home theater chairs. I was concerned that the effect would be localized to one side, but it is effective at moving the whole chair. I thought the mounting accessory would be a temporary installation, but it works well enough that I do not feel I need to change it.
