I am in a bit of a quandry. I got a 80Gb video IPOD for Xmas and I have need of 2 things:
1) Hard case: must protect against accidental drops, give me access to plugs and hopefully protect the click wheel too. The only thing I have found so far which gives me these things (to some degree) are the Otterbox and the Agent18 cases. Otterbox (I don't think) doesn't give you access to the USB port, yet provides all the other items I mention. Agent 18 doesn't have clickwheel protection, but has the rest (although not as 'rugged' as the otterbox).

2) Car connection: 2 cars, 2 different problems.
Car 1) Saab 9-5: only integration with stock system is a product called AudioTroll (www.audiotroll.com). Con: is expensive and has yet to ship although they are VERY close. Pro: complete integration with Standard stock audio system.
Car 2) 95 GMC Jimmy: Radio is still factory, and is starting to go. Looking at new head unit that is Ipod ready.

Issues: Don't want to spend several hundred dollars on per car solutions (as mentioned above) if there is one solution that can span both cars. So far I understand that there is a FM transmitter solution out there, but quality varies.
What is a good option given the product that is out there??

Anyone have any experience or suggestions for good solutions for my questions above??

Thanks for the suggestion. I grabbed it and am now using it in my car. Fantastic!!! Much better than the tape solution if you don't have access to an Aux port on the head unit (I don't on the factory radio in the Saab). Clean, crisp, and no interference. I only wish I had another cigarette lighter (for my phone charger).

While I can't help you with your question on car connection, I have a Mustang with a tape player so I use a cassette adapter to listen to my iPod in it and it works great for me.

However I can say that for the case what I have used is an aluminum case made for my 60 GB iPod. The one I purchased was the older addition for $18 and it does not have the click wheel cover but gives me the protection and access that I need. You can try Matias Armor for iPod, it is $40-$50 for the second generation case and it also protects the click wheel with a silicone cover. The inside is lined with neoprene and fits the iPod very well.

Hope this helps you.

I want to install a device in a 2001 Honda Accord EX with a cd player and cassette player. What's the current best bet? (the current posts are pretty old)
