After searching around in the " Tweaks and Do-It-Yourself " for info on power conditioners and surge protection I kind of feel its a little out of place there. It seems alot of people post about building cables for video and audio there and it kind of seems like a misc forum . I feel a new subforum under maybe "Digital Video & Audio Devices" , "A/V Control & Automation" or even "Other Areas of Interest" for something that can cover UPS's, power conditioners and surge protectors would be nice. Theres probably some other devices that would fit in this subforum too I just can't think of any now.

Hello...

Not a bad thought. Let us take a look at adding it at some point.

Thanks

Thanks for considering it.

But we still can't get a dedicated sub-forum for headphones in the audio section?

Any update on that? I know the request/suggestion has been made on several occasions.

Right it has been asked for a few times really over all the time of the site...but after looking though the site, it really does not have a draw to have a dedicated section for it I am sorry to say. What was acted for above is talked about quite a bit and would be a good fit for the site. Thus it is being considered.

Thank you.

All due respect, Mr. Bott, but I just can't get with that.

This is an Audio Visual Sciece forum, right? So, how do headphones not fit in to that but power conditioning does?

I'm not trying to be a jerk, just playing the devil's advocate here.

How about a poll in audio forum's? Just up for a few days - "Do you want a headphone sub forum or not?"

I think the people would say yes.

A poll would be viewed as flawed for the answer would be use for it does not cost anyone anything for us to have it here.

Yes, headphones are and audio device, however I am sorry to say it just is not something that really is asked about much here that would warrant a dedicated section for it. Power is not an A/V device but it is used with it it is talked about a lot. Heck...Cables are used but we do not have a dedicated cables section for it for it is talked about in many places.

One could and would say that it is a SPEAKER, so just post in the speaker section for we have that. Let me add the word headphone to the speaker section description. But I have the feeling you would not be happy with just that.

I don't really understand your first sentence, but let me assure you, it is not a matter of me being happy.(although I feel "speakers & headphones" is a good idea, and a more than fair comprimise). I am suggesting an improvement to an already excellent site.

I just think that if you are going to get that specific with subforums to include Power Conditioning it seems logical to add headphones which gets discussed all over the site. A centralized location for headphones (to me at least) seems as logical if not more so, than a Power Conditioning forum.

But that is just it....headphone's are not something that comes up a lot that would justify a dedicated forum for it. Power does come up quite a bit more and would have more of a draw and a wide range on chat. If you does a search for headphones, most of the posts that come are because the word is used as part of headphone jack.

I meant in the first sentence that people will always answer YES to something if it 1) Does not cost them anything, or 2) They do not loose something else. As such, just asking if people want a new forum the result will be slated towards YES.

I have added headphones as part of the decsription to the speaker section. Not part of the title, but the description.

Thanks

Thanks for the clarification and the description addition Mr. Bott.

Just of of curoiusity, does it cost anything?

just to clarify something, my suggestion was for the joining of UPS's, power conditioners and surge protectors.

Does it cost...Not you you...but to the site in general...yes. More moderation, drop down list is larger showing things down, and some other items. Not an out right cost to add something, it as you can see, more plays into the choice of adding a section.
