Hi,
I have been reading all your posts and learning a lot. Thank You All.

After careful concideration I have come up with choices for my setup. I would like a ported box with a 15" driver @ about 15HZ. Im replacing (or adding to) my 7 year old Kenwood 10" powered sub.

The components I want to get are:

Behringer EP1500 Pro Amp (my choice)OR
Carvin HD-900 Amp

SS RL-p 15" D2 (my choice)OR
Dayton TItanic 15"

From what i have read, i can get the box size from WinISD. My only reservation and question is this:

How do I know what shape of bracing to place on the inside?, and if there is are special rules you have to follow when installing inside buffles and bracing to get the best sound.

My room is 17'x23' and my 10"sub cant keep up. The new sub would go behind my left stage speaker so there is no size restriction.

Any help and advise would be appreciated.

Internal baffles are not too critical when it comes to geometry or placement in the enclosure. The important thing is to make large enough cutouts so air can move and keep stuff away from the port as it can cause wind noise. Damping should not be dense enough to impede air movement inside the cabinet so again it should have little effect on your baffles.

If you want an easy baffle, just make a square with the same dimensions as the inside of your enclosure. Cut a big hole in this panel, leave about 2" for the thickness.

Go with the Rl-p for sure.

Thnx, If i go with RL-p15 and EP1500, for better sound quality and the WOW factor, is it better to go with a PORTED BOX or SONOTUBE design. Just wondering cause either one is fun to make??
Thnx for any input.

I prefer the box but since this is your first DIY project I would suggest a sonotube, from my personal experience they are a bit less difficult.

good choice on the amp and driver. Go with a sono.

Well we don't have a good answer for that, but "Steve nn" (who has ample experience with the Rl-p 15) prefers the sonotube design to the box as far as SQ goes.

I'd say go the sonosub route and build the standard 260liter @ 15Hz design (or thereabouts).

Thnx for all the input, ONE MORE QUESTION.....

does anybody know or have made a box with the SS RL- s 15. Would there be a huge improvement in output of the sono fot the money???( i would pair it up with Behringer EP2500)

OR is the RL- p 15 the best sub for the sono design?!

Im looking a this RL- s 15  beast and maybe im willing to fork out the extra cash???
It sure looks impresive.

Any thoughts, suggestions, opinions????

thnx
