I'm moving into a new apartment and I want something better than my toshiba 27" cinema CRT to watch movies and play games on. I've read through the forum about lag and it scares the crap out of me as my gf and I play alot of older systems: SNES, Dreamcast, GC and PS2. I myself LOVE 2D fighting games.
My question is this: Would an EDTV like the Panasonic TH-42PD60U 42" plasma still have lag on 480i as the TV is native 480p? Since the lag issue seems to arise when the display must scale an image I would think this would solve the issue. I'm not so much interested in HD (lack of source in my area) as I am a larger widescreen panel so the ED would be fine for me. Does anyone have any specific gaming experience on this TV? How afraid of burn-in should I be?
Also does anyone have any other recomendations? I've heard some of the older style CRT rear projection accept a native 480i signal. I'm not as interested in a RP but I need to play my classic games :)
