I have had this DLP set for about two years. A few days ago it developed a problem where the image jumps around the screen and the colors fade in and out constantly. The brightness also "flickers". Today I changed the lamp just in case that was the problem. Not so, problem is still there and I have tried everything I can find on this and other forums.
I would appreiciate any help in determining if this is an expensive issue to fix. I don't have an extended warranty, and any expensive fix is just not worth it. TV prices have dropped enough to make expensive repairs not worth it. Also, I am in the Dallas/Ft. Worth are and could use a reccomendation on a good repair shop if this is worth repairing.
Thanks,
Rudy

Greetings,
I own the same Samsung HD2+ 5674 and have not had any issues with it. At the time they were a limited model run and not widely distributed into the big box retailers or in general distribution.
You should contact Samsung to see if there are any issues that they may be aware of or have them tell you of an authorized repair service that could diagnose your problem.

I already contacted Samsung and could not be of much help. I did get a couple of names of authorized repair places. I will have to take it to one of those next week. I fear the reapair will be near or over a thousand bucks. In that case, it will not be worth repairing. I know it is not the bulb, may be the color wheel, but not likely. My impression is that any other problem will be big money to repair.

Greetings,
I might be worthwhile to have the authorized repair service come to visit instead of bringing it to them. Just see what they charge for in home diagnositics.
The electroincs of this and other Samsung DLPs is mostly modular in nature, and they usually just replace boards and not troubleshoot them.
You might luck out.
Or not.
Keep in mind that the DLP chip in your current unit is no longer used by Samsung, so it might be worth a repair call.
BTW, since you are from Dallas, sorry about the Cowgirls...
At least you can now root for the Eagles...

I will see what can be done tomorrow when things open up again. I sure hope I luck out, but am not holding my breath. If I have to trash this set, I will have to look at other options. I may take a look at plasma and LCD technology.
Optical section is out. $810 to repair....ouch. Not enough to justify trashing the set, but too much for a set that is only 2 years old. My last big screen laster over 12 years! All this new technology is not very reliable, and the manufacturers are not exactly standing behind their product. I guess this will be my last Samsung product.
