For some reason some of my digital channels with have no audio at all. I tried to do some trouble shooting using the booklet that came with the book but no luck. I have a sony KDL-46V2500. I am using comcast normal cable and live in Miami if that makes a difference. Thanks for any help

Have you tried rebooting your cable box? I sometimes have this problem with TWC and rebooting the box usually takes care of the problem.

Please explain in detail your set up with model numbers, is there a STB involved or are you going directly into the set?

The cable is going directly from the wall to the t.v I used the cable that came with the t.v I am sorry if my terminology is not correct but I am new to flat screens and digital television in general. My friend came over and programed the digital channels because I was just running the t.v through a standard cable box and he explained to me that I can get more channels with digital and so he programed the television. As soon as the t.v was programed I clicked through the channels only to find out that some channels had no audio. If it makes a difference I live in Miami zip code 33018

You need an HD cable box and HD service from your provider. Why did you purchase an HDTV is your not going to use it?

It might be that your TV is set to act as center channel and you are tuning in channels that are in stereo. The first thing I would check are the audio settings on the TV.

If you are going to stay with that set up, I would as suggested from the TV menu try and change the audio options.
I am assuming if you can pick up any digital channels your set has a QAM tuner.
If that is the case you should be able to pick up the HD channels in the clear.

You mentioned "some" channels with no audio. How are the local broadcast digital channels? If they are OK, then I suspect that the other channels are "encrypted". Not scrambled, but sometimes cable operators put the audio and video in different parts of the spectrum to force you to use their STB.

Are the "bad" channels the analog ones (generally #2-99), the digital ones (assuming your set does Cable QAM channels, these would usually be above 100, or even 4-digit channels), or just random?

If it's just some of the analog channels, see if your "audio menu" settings are on "SAP" rather than "Main" or "Stereo". If it's all of the channels, maybe the set is switched (in the audio menu) to "speaker off", which is often the setting you would need if you were listening via your stereo system

I tried that kenglish but it did not work. The "bad" channels are all in digital but not all the digital channels.

I think Geekgirl is right. I have had a few digital channels the past month not have audio using the quam tuner on the tv. I don't use the tv tuner that much as i have the motorola 3412 box. I can't remember what channels they were.

Is there any way to get the the audio to work even if I have to get a box ? How much do they run for ? Again I have comcast cable. I was also wondering if there is anything I can buy to increase the pq of my t.v

You have a 46" 1080p High Def LCD display. Awesome. The only way to improve the picture quality is to be able to look at some truly great HD programming like INHD, ESPN HD, Discovery HD. In other words, instead of buying something to improve the quality, subscribe to the ComCast digital plus package and budget from there.

Make sure you get the high def STB (Set Top Box). Then, use the digital connection (HDMI, or, DVI to HDMI cable depending on the box) to connect to your Sony. Run the STB audio output to the TV. You will get audio.
