I know there's been a lot of talk about this model in the other Hitachi threads, but I thought I'd start a new one, as it's quite possible that many people will be buying one right now and then searching for info avs about it.

I personally couldn't stand it anymore. Between all the rave reviews I've read on here and the UNBELIEVABLE price, I finally ordered one. It's too bad we can't talk price, I'd really like to post it. I cannot believe I'm going to get a 51" HDTV for this paltry amount of cash.

Will post pics once I pick it up (if that's allowed [no sarcasm intended]) if anyone wants them. There are plenty online, so maybe you don't need them.

Anyway, I'm excited :D :D :D

Congradulations! I've had this set for about 6 months now and i'm really pleased with it. Especially for how cheap it is...your getting a great TV. It doesn't look as sharp as my friends Mitsubishi DLP, but I didn't pay $2000 for it either.

I picked this tv up for my parents from BB online on the Wednesday before T-giving for a price that was amazing....it was why I had to go for it. Under 7 with free delivery.

They've had for almost a month and have been very happy with it. I still need to tweek their picture settings with the DVE disk but it looks good so far....

Yep, first one. Upgrading from a 20" flat tube piece of junk I bought from my brother-in-law for $50. Should be an amazing difference.

Whats ther difference in the F1F59 and F1F59A

The "A" in the model number. They're the same set, the difference in model # depends usually on what retailer it gets sent to. Helps retailers avoid price matching! :D

The local RentToOwn ripoff artists--I mean store--carries the elusive 51F59J.

Crap! Went to pick up today, but it wouldn't fit in the minivan I borrowed from the in-laws. It must have a ton of packaging, it was way taller than 50".

Yes, theres a large amount of packaging. U-Haul rents the smallest box truck for $19.99. FYI.

I was able to borrow a Dodge Ram from a friend at work, so that should be plenty. It's raining today, which is unfortunate. I wonder if I have a tarp...

Picked up the TV this past Sunday in time to watch the Colts beat the Dolphins :D. Woo hoo!

The picture was way too bright at stock settings. However, this TV does seem to require more brightness (with a contrast level of about 38-40) than what most people seem to be posting in the 57F59A thread. I'll post my settings once I get home from work.

SD satellite TV looks anywhere from pretty good down to awful, but that seems to depend more on the quality of the channel.

OTA HD is amazing! I just can't find an HD channel for CBS, which is unfortunate. But yeah, watching some bowl games yesterday was a real shocker. I couldn't believe the difference in clarity and vibrancy.

OK, question: according to this website (http://www.solidsignal.com/antennas/dmamarkets.asp), CBS in my area (Indianapolis, IN) is VHF, channel 9. How do I pick that up, exactly? I don't remember if there's some sort of UHF/VHF selector on my antenna.

Just used my football winnings to pay for the 51f59, and good thing I decided not to get the 57, as this one barely fit into my basement, anyways this is a dream come true. I seriously am glad LCD Plamsa, and DLP came on, as 3 years ago this set would have run me 2k, now I can go HD, and for under 1k insane.
Anyways my cable box i'll get this afternoon, and i'll keep you guys posted with how the set runs out of the box. :)

Congrats! I never thought I'd be able to afford this size of television at this stage in my life, you're right about new technology being a boon to those of us who just want a good picture. The wheels also help a lot when connecting components.

It's driving me nuts, though, that I can't find an HD channel for CBS OTA.

Ok, last post in here for a while. This thread may be redundant anyway, as the 57F59A thread is still going strong.

I found CBS with my antenna. It was a pain, but now I have all 3 extra channels. Too bad football season is almost over.

I can't wait to pair this excellent screen with an upconverting Oppo DVD player (though my next purchase may be a nice universal remote).

SD looks nice, but the cable box I got wouldn't boot, I guess i'll start posting to the 57f59 also if I come up with anything relevant.
