Hi...I cant seem to get my Harmony 880 remote to go to HDMI2 input from HDMI1...I have my Direct TV H-20 HDbox for HDMI 1 and my Panasonic ES-25 DVD recorder for HDMI 2...when I want to switch from watching TV to watch a DVD the Samsung HLS5086w HDTV will not switch to HDMI2...when i go into software online there is no input for HDMI2 only HDMI1...i can change the TV manually by going into devices and scrolling to HDMI2 but for what i paid for this remote you would think the remote would change the input on the TV to HDMI2...anyone have any ideas?... Thanks

Go to "Adjust Inputs" for the TV device and edit the list of inputs so it includes HDMI2. It won't change to an input it doesn't know exists...It's a smart remote, but it can't read minds :)

Do the rest of the inputs have discretes? ie they are selected directly rather than by scrolling through?

Maybe I read you question wrong and you were saying you have a discrete for all other inputs except for HDMI2?

If so, you can make a "semi-discrete" for HDMI2 by selecting "I go directly to the input I want" in the "Adjust Inputs" setup, then when it asks for the command to go to HDMI2, select "Send more commands", then select "HDMI1" followed by "InputNext" from the drop-down boxes.

I would try and do a search for the Samsung DLPs and Harmony. I believe that their was an issue with one of the models in the Harmony database. I think there is a HDMI2 code for the 60" model of the TV you have.

Did you make sure that the DVD player was on before you tried to switch to HDMI2? I have a Samsung DLP TV and it will not switch to an input if it is not receiving a signal from it, so you need to switch on the component before changing the input on the TV.

I had the same problem with a Harmony 676 and a Samsung HL-S5687W, i.e., no HDMI2 input. My first solution was to delete the TV and instead program the device as an HL-S5688W, a similar model. For some reason, those codes include an HDMI2 input.

Even though the remote worked, I called their support number and the tier 1 person was able to add an HDMI2 input to my setup for the correct model. So far, when I hit "Play DVD" it turns on the DVD player, the TV and my A/V receiver, sets the inputs on the TV to HDMI2 and the receiver to DVD. I'm trying to find a discrete code to turn on the Internal Mute, but in the absence thereof, I've set up a macro that goes through the menu steps to turn the internal mute on, and then off when you're finished watching the DVD.

Finally got in touch with a tier 2 represenitive and after making a few adjustments(made by her through her computer into my 880 software) i am happy to report all is working fine.

Figs,

I've been searching for a solution to the internal mute on my Samsung HLS6187 and like to find out your settings to automate the function, specifically your delay settings for the TV.

I did set up a macro to go through the menu steps to turn on the internal mute when watching a DVD, just like you have done.
My problem is that the "Watch DVD" activity with this macro works only when all devices are off. So, when I'm watching TV and want to switch to watching a DVD, the execution of the macro does not complete. It starts to go into the Menu, starts scrolling over to "Sound" then just exits out of the menu prematurely. As the DVD player (Oppo 970) loads, it seems to cancel out the TV commands..?
I've probably spent over 10 hours playing with all the delay settings, but cannot fix the problem and the damn macro is now running really really slow in executing the steps.

I've also called support today but not much of a help, they want me to call Samsung and find the discrete code for the internal mute function - they think the macro is too long to be consistent...

Please help... I also sent an e-mail to Samsung for the discrete code so I'll let you if I hear back from them. Thanks.

I've sent you a PM with the macro I use to turn the Internal Mute on and off in my "Watch DVD" activity on my 676.

I think the reason the macro has trouble during DVD set-up is because of HDMI. When the DVD player is turned on it has to establish digital communications with the TV through one of the HDMI inputs. There is a "handshake" process whereby each of the compnents has to recognize the other and this requires the active participation of the TV's internal processor. If you happen to be in the middle of turning the internal mute on when the two components are trying to link up, I suppose the processor gives priority to the HDMI linkup and ignores any other instructions it may be receiving.

If the macros I sent still won't work, you can set them up as separate "Activities" (Internal Mute On and Internal Mute Off) and then utilize them after all the components are turned on and the HDMI signal is recognized. It may not be as convenient as having it done automatically but it should work.
