Hi all,

I am presently using a Stargate SG-IP for HA.

The SG-IP interfaces with a GE Caddx NX8e.

I am using the JDS HomeRunner on several Fujitsu 3400 tablets which act as touch screen interfaces to the SG. I also have Pocket WebX on a PPC for mobile access to the SG.

Question: What would I gain by purchasing HomeSeer and interfacing it with the SG plugin to my SG-IP?

I have done a search for HS on this forum, but really could not determine if it would be a value added purchase in relation to my SG-IP.

Anyone on the forum using HS with the SG-IP?

Regards,
TCIII

Hello,

To get more opinions, you might want to ask this question on Stargate forum on the HomeSeer.com message board.

HomeSeer can add a lot to your Stargate system. Here is a short list:

* Remote access to your system from the web, including full control of all devices and event creation

* Easy web interface for creating new events and schedules, much easier to use then WinEVM. (PC must be running)

* Voice recogniton. Use voice commands from a mic or from any telephone to control your devices.

* Really nice scripting interface which allows you to create scripts using VBScript or vb.net scripting for more complex tasks.

* There are more touch screen interfaces available which you can use to control your SG devices.

Hi Rich,

Thanks for the input. Much appreciated.

I have visited the SG forum on HS.com and found it to be most informative. I will pose my question there as you have suggested.

Is HS capable of providing TTS when receiving ASCII input from the SG on the COM1 serial input?

By default the SG plug-in for HomeSeer opens the COM port and handles all communication. If the ascii commands are handled by the plug-in (for example, a received X10 command or a relay activation), then yes, TTS can be generated.
