I've been a TiVo user forever. I also have an HDTV (that I've never seen an HD broadcast on). I'm finally ready to take the leap.

Can you recommend a DVR that's descent, gets HD, and doesn't cost $800? I'm currently a DirecTV user, but I can switch to Comcast or Dish Network. Whatever it takes.

I tried the first non-TiVo DirecTV DVR (R15) and it was awful. The most annoying thing was that they didn't have a "jump back" feature on the FF. Anyone know if the DirecTV Plus HD DVR has jump back?

For the record: A good DVR is more important to me than the HD picture. I've been spoiled by TiVo.

I should clarify. When I say "jump back feature", I'm talking about when you're fast-forwarding, see the program come on again, press "Play", and it jumps back a few seconds, depending on what speed you were FF'ing.

I'm not talking about the instant replay feature.

Thanks.

Did you ever find a decent DVR?

I haven't yet. I'm not even sure where to start. None of the retailers have them set up to test out.

The cNet reviews are all over the map. Some have great reviewer ratings, but horrible user ratings.

I was hoping to get good answers here. The people on this forum are the best at this stuff.
