Im setting up my surround speakers and I will be doing some snaking in walls. To hide my wires Im running them inbetween a double set of crown mouldings I have at the ceiling. I have enough room to cover some drilled holes with a regular wall plates, but I rather just get something smaller to just cover up a small 1/2 inch to an inch hole. Anyone know of anything like that or can I just spackle and paint around the wires that drop to the speaker levels and the holes at my speaker mounts.

So you are looking for a smaller than average duplex outlet sized wall plate?
How about something like this Surface Mount Phone Jack (http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=97408-578-PH60620&lpage=none)?

You could just pop the phone jack out of it and run your wires through.
I don't think there is anything stopping you from not using a wall plate for speaker wires. It's more of an asthetics thing as wires just jutting out of a hole in the wall (like my cable TV coax) looks a little cheezy, but it's your house and if it's hidden who cares?

You can also use the wall plates that are used for coaxial cable, just remove the threaded barrel.

If you're talking about where the spkr wires are going to exit the wall behind your speakers just make sure the hole is behind the speaker so it's hidden. Then just suff a cottom ball or something in the hold to fill the hole.
Someone on another forum just asked about this, and the recommendation was to use a product called a feedthru. I think these are intended to dress up holes where CATV coax is poked through a wall (versus using a wallplate). Might take a look at these.

Make the hole no bigger than the wire and behind the speaker. If needed, use a dab of caulk. Can't make a hole any smaller than that

My lowes and home depot have wallplates with holes of various sizes. No need to take out the barrel or anything.
And you can buy those pass-through wallplates.
The option I recommend is to install those binding-posts / jacks/ etc right on the wall plates. the local HD/Lowes also have them.
Althougt I made my own....see them here

Try these, they are made for cable rj5 and rj6 insertion through walls. The big box stores have them. :)

Rajiv A+ on your theater. Did you do most of it or have a designer and AV contractor help out? Why is your CRT PJ on-housed? Heat dissipation? Is is housed in a hush-box and actuated down from the ceiling?
