Newbie here...bear with me pls. A buddy of mine has this TV. It says HDTV compatible. What does he need to make it HD? Can he just get an HD Sat receiver? Also there are local stations that have HD programming....thanks.

All you need is an HD source like an HD cable box, sat box, ota tuner box, hddvd player, blue ray players. And hook them up on the component input(s). The Tv doesn't have a built in HD ATSC tuner so they call it "HD Ready".
