View Full Version : XG Error Code Fd , Any Ideas ??? sweetchuck 12-30-06, 11:46 PM Means , When protector circuit operates for the HV circuit. Any clues guys  Curt Palme 12-31-06, 09:03 AM -bad HV board -bad LVPS -shorted/snapped tube Are usually the most common problem. Can also be: - bad H board -bad neck board Doug Baisey 01-02-07, 09:30 AM Might try to power up without the RGB input connected. Try the video input also. If still the same what Curt says. Doug Mark_A_W 01-02-07, 03:56 PM Ahh, this is what's wrong with the XG in the 1292 vs XG thread... Try unplugging the HV leads for each tube, one at a time (don't get close to the exposed splitter...). And fire it up in the dark and look for arcing. sweetchuck 01-10-07, 01:51 AM Here is where I'm at . There is no H Pulse output from the H OSC IC5501 on the HV Board , this is because the protect 2 circuit is killing it , not sure why yet , but a clue is the 150V (B+ I think) is sitting at about 180V. The 150V adjust pot in the LV Power Supply does nothing to adjust this . Is this ringing anyones bells ??? Curt Maybe Mark_A_W 01-17-07, 07:54 AM I have a PDF from Doug for the Fd error - just found it going through my XG stuff. It's about the HV board, and a bit vague, but PM me your e-mail address and I'll shoot it over. My big box of spares arrived, but no Powersupply yet, it's in another box I have every board except the C drive. The PS should arrive soon. Happy to send whatever you need up to you to board swap - but you break it you bought it! ;) Cheers Mark sweetchuck 01-17-07, 11:23 PM Hi Mark , You mentioned something about a PDF for the FD error , I have spent about 15 hours on this fault and am tossing a coin as to whether it's the power supply or the HV board. Reason is i am still not sure that the 150V rail is seeing a correct load on the HV board and there is not enough head room in the switching PWM of the SMPS voltage control loop . Thus it is sitting at 180V and shutting down the OSC on the HV board . It's a real Chicken and egg Scenario and would great to have some cards to swap . I am going around in circles. BTW I am learning a crapload about the XG layout so far . Interesting tidbit I didn't know the HV for flyback was not at all derived from the H frequency like a normal telly . I suppose it can't as duty cycle would change with multisync frequencies. Mark_A_W 01-17-07, 11:28 PM I'll send the PDF over tonight. I do have a spare HV board, but if you can wait, I *should* have a Power supply in the next few days - they were shipped together. Mark sweetchuck 01-17-07, 11:37 PM I'll send the PDF over tonight. Mark No rush , I really would appreciate it and organise the shipping , Will the PS work on my model ???? Thanks :) It still could be the flyback at fault :( Mark_A_W 01-17-07, 11:48 PM Yes, the powersupply will work - it's from a 1101LC - it'll work in any xxx1 series XG (and xxx2 I think as well). It's 110v...DON'T FORGET!! HV supply is the one part don't think I'm getting (unless he threw it in the box). If I don't get the HV supply, I'll pass the seller's details to you, he may have it still. Mark |
