I have successfully had my PS3 hooked up to my Yamaha Htr-5990 through HDMI with no problems at all for almost a week.
The HTR-5990 is connected through HDMI to my Samsung HLR-6168 TV.
Sound and Video looked great for the whole week.
I have all of the available upgrades for the PS3 installed.

However, last night and today I cannot get video from PS3 to show on the tv only a blue screen. The audio still works fine.
This is really weird.
I have tried to unhook and rehook the cables up and made sure all connections are fine.
I have also tried hooking up the ps3 with the supplied composite AV cables that come with it and it does work fine both video and audio after a hard reset. But of course its only 480i due to the cables.

Tried again to turn hdmi on through the dashboard settings but I still only get audio.
Can anyone please help? Why did it work fine and all of a sudden it does not?

I should mention that I also have a Motorola HD satellite receiver hooked up to the second HDMI port on the receiver. I tried to unhook that one as well in case it was causing some problem switching the signal but it did not help any.

Please help. I cannot stand looking at my ps3 in 480i!!!

Make sure you have 1080i enabled on the PS3. Your Samsung does not support 1080p inpput.

I have set the ps3 to 1080i and it was working fine previously. That is the weird part.

One more clue. Maybe....

I have tried to select HMDI audio from the Ps3 dashboard and when I select automatic it gives me the following error:

An HDMI device error has occured (8002B224)

Anyone know what this error is and is it related to the video problems?
Thanks

Make sure you do not have 1080p selected on PS3, your reciever will not "pass through" 1080p, change settings on PS3 to not inlcude 1080p... should fix problem... I had the same things happen.

Ok guys. THis is really weird. This morning I tried it again and now it works!!!

Nothing has changed so I dont understand why it was not working.

I am thinking that maybe the hdmi cable has some problem so I will wait and see.

Thanks everyone for the input.

I will keep u posted if I have the same problem again.

I have my PS3 connected via HDMI cable to a Samsung 1080P LCD for picture. No problems there, beautiful picture in 1080P. For audio, I have the PS3 hooked up to a Yamaha 5990 via optical cable. When I play a Bluray DVD in the PS3 I get a flashing HDCP ERROR on the front panel of the 5990. The sound plays fine although I have no way of finding out if it's DD or DTS etc, because all there is on the 5990 panel is the flashing message. I don't want to connect the PS3 to the 5990 via HDMI because the 5990 is HDMI Version 1.1 and it will not passthrough 1080P signal (or atleast that is my understanding).
I have my Toshiba A2 HD-DVD player and the Comcast DVR connected to the 5990 via HDMI and then the 5990 to the TV via HDMI, and I don't have any problems from those.
Any suggestions?
