when dealing with coloration of sound quality vs. neutrality in DIY speakers , specifically the two front towers..
which is the better setup to go with? will having the best coloration of sound type DIY speakers be better than the best neutrality sound DIY speakers ? or vice versa?

It depends on either what you prefer or whether you will have an equalizer. If you will have an equalizer, you want your speakers to be as neutral as possible. If you won't have an equalizer, then it depends on what sound you prefer (neutral is better IMO).
I agree, having ur speakers neutral and colorate the sound with eqs wont bother u when u change the genre of the program.
Neutral speakers will adapt to the "coloration" of the source material fed to them. You could change whatever component in the chain, and could expect to hear extremely subtle to pronounced change in sound depending on the new component coming in. But with neutral speakers, remember the principle "Garbage in Garbage out". With lesser equipment, neutral speakers could sound dull and lifeless, in which case a speaker with your preferred "coloration" to the sound would be preferred.
Speakers with inherent coloration tendencies should be matched to equipment accordingly.
