View Full Version : [Problem] Mits 65831 blinking green timer light and cannot turn on anymore!
Pistolero 01-01-07, 03:31 AM Hi all,
So i wake up today at the crack of noon, and I go straight to my TV to get my daily Baby Einstein fix... and lo and behold, the dang thing won't turn on! Then I notice the little green TIMER light is blinking incessantly. No problem, I think, I just need to hit the RESET button with my trusty pencil... Yeah, right.
After having hit said RESET button about a thousand times, having left the TV unplugged from power for about 4 hours, and lighting a few votive candles to the BigAssTV Saint, I still cannot turn my TV on.
Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to repair the Green Timer Blinking Light of Death myself? The TV is about a month-and-a-half old, so I can't just return it to the store for a new one, and my guess is that warranty repair will take at least a week, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Thanks! I had the same problem after two days, you need a BULB. Call Mitsubishi they should send you one free. Happy new year!

Thanks for the reply! That kind of makes sense, however it is not the LAMP light, but the TIMER light that blinks insanely.
Thank you SO MUCH for the tip. I will call them tomorrow first thing to get a new bulb (has anyone heard rumors about a third-party LED bulb for these TVs? That would kick ass)
Hi Pistelero,
I'm interested in what you find out. I have a '05 WD62725 and first had this same problem occur in November. I too tried resetting and unplugging etc. - nothing worked. On the phone to engage BestBuy service - the light finally stopped blinking - cancelled call. All ok for a month, then just before Xmas - same prob - tried everything again for days - to no avail. Called again. Service Tech came out on Wed 1/3 - thought prob could be due to card reader (from Mits TS) - disconnected it - nothing. He contacted TS again and all they could say was to try and replace DM board - he is ordering and will come back next week to swap it out. Said these are "very difficult sets - very finicky - only 50% chance DM board swap will fix - if not the whole chassis internals will need to be swapped - another week or two . . . ."
I'm obviously not very happy about having my big screen down for the holidays and the bowl games!!!
Anybody else have this problem???? What was the fix?
Pistolero 01-04-07, 11:19 PM Repair dude said he needed to get some circuit board from Mits to replace it... about a week without TV. I am going batshit :-P
On the plus side, I hadn't noticed I actually have three kids :-)
Seems like we're in same boat - LMAO regarding the kids - yeah, it sure is quiet around here in the evenings without the news etc., but like you said I'm getting more done, spending more time with the kids, and am not as depressed after NOT watching the evening news!! :D
Hopefully someone else out there has had this problem and can pass along their experience so we can know what to expect!
Pistolero 01-05-07, 12:00 AM My guess is that it *could* be the same circuit failing, but the behaviors are different... my TV never came back online after it died unlike yours. This sure smells like bad capacitors somewhere...
In any case, if they don't get my TV fixed I am going to fight tooth and nail to have the whole TV exchanged... I didn't pay three grand to have them just sit there and look dark.
I agree with you wholeheartedly regarding getting this resolved quickly or else!! I do have some unhappy news though, I did a search on this thread on 'blinking green timer light' and saw about 5-10 posts that seemed closely related - in one of them, the guy said that he was also told he would need his DM board replaced and that the part wouldn't be available to the tech to install for a MONTH!!!! This if true would drive me to possible violence. I did not pay that much for a TV or that much for an extended warrantee to sit around for a month or two while they get their finger out! I'm sure both Mits and Best Buy have lots of fine print that they will point to, but things will get Draconian if I am pressed that far!!! Lets hope it doesn't.
Maybe if we respond to each other enough, enough others will see this thread and maybe we will get some other info - also we can check in to see if either of us has any new news. I've discovered something called 'Books' and am now going to open one in bed to see what's inside! I'll check in again tomorrow night!
Late!
Pistolero 01-05-07, 01:30 AM Hmmm... a what do you call it? a book? Is that something you throw at somebody when they piss you off? :-D
I just got the latest Carl Sagan book myself... really looking forward to some quality time with it outside the can!
Sure, let's keep this going so we ge visibilit and we can share our experiences with the world at large.
Nighty-night.
Pistolero - What's happening on your end - any luck??
I haven't even gotten a call back regarding the DM board. Called Magnolia/BB three times - no one knows anything. I have emailed Mits at MDEAservice@mdea.com twice and gotten no reply - I'm really getting pissed!
Pistolero 01-17-07, 09:55 PM Hi O Brother in TV despair!
I am on the same boat. It's been 18 days and still they have not replaced my... Wait for it... Wait for it... DM Assembly board! I will post my complete odyssey later when I have more time, but in a nutshell, yes, I am VERY pissed off.
