I have a new Panny 58" 60u and a Rotel 1057 receiver ( ROTEL BACK PANEL pic (www.rotel.com/support/pdfs/drawings/rsx1057-bk.pdf) ). I would like to run 3 HDMI components. Is this possible using the switching option? I currently have the Directv, and my HD DVD player hooked up diretly to the tv with the HDMI cables. Can I go directly to the TV with my DTV and use the ROTELS HDMI switching for the HD DVD player and the Blu-ray player that I am about to get? I really would not like to run any of the components with component video. HELP.

If your Panny has two HDMI ports, you might be able to run an HDMI cable directly from the Directv receiver to the Panny for video and then an optical or coaxial audio cable from the Directv receiver to your Rotel A/V receiver for audio. Check your Panny's owner's manual to make sure that this set-up is supported.

I am doing something like this on my Samsung that has two HDMI ports and my Onkyo receiver has 2x1 HDMI switching in order to get three digital video sources. And I use a Harmony remote.

Good luck.

Yes the Panny does have 2 HDMI ports, but my problem is that I have 3 HDMI sources. Directv, HD DVD and BLU-RAY. I want to go directly from HR20 to the TV via HDMI and then I want to use the switching for both DVD players. That is where I get confused on whether or not I can do it.

If your receiver has two HDMI inputs and one output, you have everything you need (except HDMI cables)

A. Connect your SAT box directly to your TV via HDMI and run a Toslink or Coax to your receiver for digital audio.

B. Connect the Blu Ray and HD DVD to the two HDMI inputs on your receiver.

C. Connect the HDMI output from your receiver to the spare HDMI input on the TV.

That's it!

What you intend to do is the same thing that I am doing with my set-up as I described above. I just gave you the detail on how to hook-up the non-switched HDMI source. I figured the set-up of the switched HDMI sources would be straightforward.

As for cables, the cheapest route is monoprice.com
