I'm trying to record output from the 8300HD by leaving on play and running a standalone DVD Recorder. This is at night, when I turn my tv off for the evening. The problem is that after 2 hours, the 8300HD enters sleep mode and then I get a black screen. Is there any way to prevent this? If I left the TV on, I am guessing I will accomplish what I want, is this correct? I'd rather not leave it on. It does have an HDMI connection to the TV.

Does it always stop after 2 hours or does it depend on when you start it? Have you tried it during the day and it still stops after 2 hours? There is a auto-shutdown feature that cableco's use at a predetermined time each night, ours is at 1:15 am, and it can only be overridden by pressing a key when the prompt appears. I don't know if this is what you are experiencing or not.

I have Comcast and there is actually a sleep mode setting in my menu area to disable it or enable it. I have 1.88.25. I don't think my damn 1394's are active and I really wish they were.
