Hello all,
Over the holiday an old friend gave me an old Sears LXI Model # 626.54568290 52" RPTV. It is in pretty rough shape, needs some tuning up. Let me start off by saying that I am not after a perfect picture as I know that this is a really old set. I would just like to repair to so that it is somewhat viewable. Let me start by saying that it does currently work, but is not very clear. The lenticular screen is pretty scratched up and probably needs to be replaced first. So my first question:
Are all 52" Lenticular screens the same? Do I need the specific model for my set or can I use one made for and 52" set?
Do you know of anywhere online when I can order a Lenticular screen from?
I have read posts on other forums that said somthing about being able to purchase the material and cutting it myself. Anyone know anything about this?
My next set of questions have to do with the crt's. I clean the outer lenses and then removed them and clean the lenses that are underneath them. They were full of bugs and other debris. I also cleaned the mirror and both screens. The problem I see now is that when I look into the crt's with the set on and the screen removed it looks like there is a lot of debris inside of them.
Is this the crt Coolant that I am seeing?
Could alot of debris inside the coolant be the reason why the picture seems fuzzy and spotty?
I have been able to find replacement coolant online.
Does anyone know how much coolant each crt holds?
To end my post I will let everyone know I have a little back ground in electronics but am very willing to learn and love working on things like this. I am willing to try and idea's anyone has and have lots of time to work on this thing. I appreciate any help or advice you may have to offer. :)
P.S.
Anyone know who manufactured these sets for sears and where I might be able to get a service manual from?
