This link shows bestsellling HD discs, and there a lot more HD DVD than Blu-ray.
Can you post a link, and a procedure to try and replicate your results? Is it possible you aren't working on a complete data set?

And you got that result by searching for "hd dvd"?

I haven't looked at your link yet, but I will. My list is generated by selecting DVDs and searching for "*".

I haven't looked at your link yet, but I will. My list is generated by selecting DVDs and searching for "*". Well, I'm able to replicate your actions but I am getting some different results, that are changing over a 10 minute period.
I get as of now as Blu-ray hits:
04 Mission Impossible (Blu-ray)
11 Terminator (Blu-ray)
12 Batman Begins (Blu-ray)
That would seem to indicate that the calculation that Buy.com is using is either has much more volativity than the Amazon sales stats, and can change much more frequently (making it less useful) or it is based on lesser sales volumes.
For example, we know the Amazon sales rank have an aging component that averages sales over a given period and then counts for less over time. So in Amazon's case, if 1000 copies are bought on Monday, that will continue to affect the sales graph for the next week, and in some cases for over a month. If this is not included and the best selling calculation is calculated day by day or even hour by hour a lot of variation can occur.
The same thing can happen if there is a very low sales rate or sample size. We know buy.com only sells a fraction of the DVD's Amazon does, so it would tend to have more volativity.
This will be interesting to track to see if the results will have any consistency over time. Too bad we can't have an automatic graphing of this like we have at the site tracking the Amazon sales ranks dvdwars.com (eproductwars.com)
And you got that result by searching for "hd dvd"? No. I see the " ", but that's not how I got that result. Besides if I did, why would the search result also give me Blu-ray titles? The data sorting and search functions seem a little funky at this site.
I see thats whats in the search results, but I actually hit the bestsellers link on the top when I was on the HD DVD and Blu-ray page.
I also got the same result when I clicked on the "high definitin DVD" link on the lefthand side.
The search functions on this site don't seem to be very consistent and when you click on various functions on the left side go to options, various things don't work right. Its like they have HD DVD and Blu-ray titles inconsistely listed in their database search functions.
There are no figures listed, no methodology ..nothing to indicate whether this is an accurate description of actual sales. And it's constantly changing.
Closed before I have to get a fire extinguisher.
