Well today was big for me. I rearranged my room to make one whole side of it my home theater. My room is in the basement so this works out really well. I got my 5.1 Sony HTIB setup on 40" stands and the distances and angles all set up properly.

I used the THX optimizer on Pixar's Cars DVD and I can not believe how much better my TV looks. This is a Sony KV-32S40, a standard definition barrel Trinitron tube. My sharpness was all out of whack as was my brightness. I'm using a Playstation 2 with S-Video (best my TV supports) and optical audio. I know my setup is nothing spectacular but I'm very pleased with how it came out!

I like those Optimisers too- in my collection they come on The Hustler and The Evil Dead.

They are quick and easy to use, but when you get your confidence up, go for Digital Video Essentials or the Avia disk.

Anyway, I used the THX ones for years on my standard def TV. Good stuff. Especially the "THX with drop shadow" screen.
