I'm guessing one of the drives of my dual hard drive RTV has gone bad. I'd like to put in two new drives. Can i do the upgrade from a laptop PC using a USB (1.1) to IDE adapter (with hard drive power supply cord). I've read where i should be able to make this work when upgrading a single drive... but i'm not sure about a dual drive upgrade. Would i have to have two USB - IDE adapters connected at the same time to make a dual drive upgrade work? Or could i use an IDE cable that can connect to both new drives and plug that IDE cable into the USB - IDE adapter?
Thanks for any advice!

Why are you set on putting in two drives?

Thanks for the response! I currently have two drives in there, so i figured that the idiot-proof method (me being a newb) would be to replace them with two new drives. Also, i was thinking about 2 300GB drives (currently 2 250GB in there). I suppose i could go with 1 500GB - supposing i wouldnt have to do anything extra going from a 2-drive to a single drive (beyond just doing a single drive upgrade patch) .
Less chance of failure with just one drive. And drives are getting inexpensive.

Follow-up... I installed a new Seagate 500GB ST3500841ACE using a USB - IDE adapter (also needed a power cord for the drive) to connect the drive to my laptop to upload the appropriate image using RTV Patch on 1/4/07. It's working great so far. Quieter than the older (western digital) drives too.
