I have french doors to the entrance of my media room. There is small gap when the doors are closed. I would like to have a totally light controlled room. Has anyone used any material to prevent light from coming through this gap?

You could pick up some foam or brush weatherstripping that should cover up to 1/2" of gap while still being low profile.

if your doors are painted, you could cut a thin strip of wood and attach it to one of the doors so that when the doors are closed the strip overlaps the second door.

Good point.... that's called an astragal ( FYI)

An astragal is best, but if that does not work for you I've had some success with the flat plastic weather strips that have a crease down the center, adhesive on one side, and are that are folded into a V shape.

If the gap is even and just the right size there are also some EDPM strips in various thicknesses, that can be applied to one of the doors.
