For Those Familiar with Pio Elite RPTV 710 - VGA or Component Feed?
I know this is a display question, but those in this group are clearly videophile junkies with great understanding of the different format feeds etc. so pardon my cross post.
I have a legacy Pioneeer Elite 710 64" Hi Def analog RPTV that still displays a gorgeous picture (better than my Pioneer 8th generation plasmas I might add). I'm finally taking the plung to upgrade my Dish Service and my HPTC to full-on Hi Def, but my set maxes with 1080i and only has two input types: VGA and Component.
If you have any experience with this kind of tv and input options I'd appreciate your comments / insights regarding with input type you would recommend and why.
One more thing, if it makes a difference, my Dish box and my HTPC require 40' cable runs. I already had a high quality component cable that runs from my upconverting DVD player to the TV and gives me a decent picture.
Lastly, my HTPC is using a new 7 series Geforce Video card with PureVideo software, so I have enormous control over overscanning and resolution and timing. Again, don't know how that might influence your comments.
Thanks!
