SpeedyHTPC 01-02-07, 06:12 PM Does the character get tired after moving through the ranks?
I swear he is not throwing his fists as fast or quick as when the game first started...or is it me ? heh..
I'm just under the 1000 pro rank and the challengers are harder but my guy isn't working harder.
jasonstiller 01-02-07, 10:14 PM no clue because i havent been able to move up in the ranks. How do you rank up in boxing??? That as well as tennis still has me at 0% and ive played both plenty iof times that i should have seen something by now.
Stinkmeat 01-02-07, 10:39 PM You have to do single player in tennis and boxing events to get ranked.
thatdude90210 01-03-07, 01:24 AM I don't think so (for the OP). But the opponent gets harder because he's blocking & ducking, plus he/she gets harder to KO. But I don't remember "pro" ranking opponents being that much more difficult than fighting 800/900 ranks ones.
I found these punches useful when I moved up in the ranks: Body punches to the right (right handed, just swing sideways from right to left while keeping left hand up to block) and some right uppercuts. Those are pretty good for taking down much of their health meter.
SpeedyHTPC 01-03-07, 01:34 AM Yes I was able to knock down the previous challenger with the right hand upper cuts and body blows. The left (nunchuck) blows are very hard to get going. I wanted to do a right left right left sequence but the nunchuck doesnt sense the uppercut blow as good as the wiimote.
I sure have to dig down deep to get thing to do a right hand uppercut.
BASHERS33 01-03-07, 07:12 AM All I know is some days it picks up my punches well and some days it wont punch when I try to. And people claim only the accelerometer is used, so this should not be happening on any type of tv. I think the sensing just plain isn't good enough becuase also in golf I will try to swing and it will not register my backswing and when I go forward it is pulling back and stuff. And in baseball one day it wouldnt let me swing. I would swing forward and the bat would half swing then not finish.
jasonstiller 01-03-07, 12:03 PM Thanks! now its time to rank up in boxing and give you my answer ha ha ha

Do you have your handedness (left or right) set correctly for these sports?
SpeedyHTPC 01-03-07, 12:21 PM I was flipping through the book for the Wii setup (because, you look in the book AFTER theres issues not before, no, never! ha!)..
The Wii has a sensitivity setting for the remotes. I'm wondering if this will improve it. It also mentions that setting it at a higher sensitivity value increases the range from the default 8ft.
Also there is a stand included for the sensor bar. It mentions in the manual that sometimes it helps to put the sensor on the stand if it is too far below the TV (I can't see a reason to use the stand if your bar is above the TV).
I dont have such issues with the nunchuck that extend to other games like what bashers33 is saying. My left moves are just not that great in boxing. I haven't had a problem in the other mini games from Wii Sports, but then they dont use the nunchucks, only the wiimote.

I had a problem like this, after I whacked the controller against a chair. It eventually fixed itself. I have since had intermittent problems when the rechargable batteries get low (even if the wiimote battery indicator looks about half). Puting in freshly charged batteries always fixes it.
I have noticed that as you get up to higher rank, it seems like you need to punch a bit harder. Also, it doesn't always punch if your opponent has hit you recently. As they boxing opponents get better, I can't always get a punch away when I want to.
SpeedyHTPC 01-04-07, 04:06 PM The wiimotes do not work that well with 1.2v rechargeables that why when the batteries start to fail, it does weird things. I use 1.5v rechargeables and they work really well and save me from buying a lot of AA's.
BASHERS33 01-05-07, 11:57 AM I am using Energizer 2200 mAh rechargeables. I assume that is 1.2 v? I would hate to ahve to spend money for a new charger (if 1.5 v would need a new charger) and more batteries over this...
But anyway today it was TERRIBLE. Plain terrible! Itw as working ok for zelda, although the cursor wasn't moving too smoothely. Then what's WEIRD is in bowling I was doing the game where it blocks off part of the lane and you have to curve the ball. I was curving it perfectly. YET THEN I did the bowling where it keeps adding more and more pins. NOTHING was working. IT WOULD ALWAYS curve left, when it was just working exactly how I wanted in the other game.
Then in boxing, it was the worst performance I have EVER seen the remote and nunchuk give! I was not just punching 3 or 4 punches that werent being picked up. I literally would punch FIFTEEN times with none of them punching! Somehow it worked PART of the match and I still won though. lmao But wow that was ridiculous and pointless.
Then in tennis sometimes I would swing the racket and it would do NOTHING and the ball would go past me.
So I dunno. I dunno what to do, but this is ridiculous. I don't know if it's batteries or if nintendo needs to come out with a "super controller" some time which is much better at sensing.
BASHERS33 01-05-07, 12:08 PM Yeah they are 1.2. This is annoying. I guess I ahve to go spend yet more money and then for all I know the 1.5 may not work right either. :(
I'm having a hard time locating 1.5v rechargeables...does someone have a link handy?
BASHERS33 01-05-07, 12:16 PM Also I wonder if I would need a new charger? Anyone know? I got whatever charger came with the energizer 1.2s. WOuld that mean it wouldn't charge 1.5s?
BASHERS33 01-05-07, 12:21 PM I want energizer. And by the way i assume lithium isnt supposed to beused? Or can they be? Then that would mean another charger I assume and also I wondr if they would work better or worse than the 1.5v alkaline. This is so frustrating having to go find them, but I know SOMETHING is making the wiimote act up, and it could be the batteries since it was mentioned here about the 1.2v not working as well.
SpeedyHTPC 01-05-07, 12:30 PM Guys I thought it would help to start a new thread on the Lenmar Chargeables, but nobody commented...they can be found at Frys Electronics. But you can buy direct from lenmar.com. Its pretty inexpensive. I've charged a used set of AA's and have been using it with my wiimote since new with my wife and I doing bowling everyday. it isn't 2200mAh but 2000mAh..a little more than a Duracell.
You can check yourself with a multimeter to see how much your energizer gives. I also own those. They put out at best 1.4v fully charged. It is really short of 1.5v. I only noticed that the 1.2v are REALLY not working when I used it in my R/C controllers. They went nuts with it. Car would go everywhere else but the direction I want. If I replaced it with Duracell's it worked flawless.
But before you splurge on the Lenmar Chargeables, just stick a pair of new Duracells in there to see if that is really the issue. Better yet, how did it work with the included Panasonics?
The Lenmar Chargeables arent lithium. They are magnesium based and require their own charger.
When I tested the voltage of the Chargeables, I got 1.6v.
BASHERS33 01-09-07, 02:34 AM It seemed to work fine in the beginning, so I assume the batteries that came with it were ok. But now AGAIN yesterday bowling was flat unplayable. I did EVERYTHIGN to make the ball curve to the right and every time it would go off to the left. If I tried to make it go straight, it went to the left also. It never did this in the beginning days. And on zelda sometimes I will point the remote ALL OVER the place and it won't even pick it up AT ALL. I am almost to the point of thinking I should jkust keep buying regular batteries instead of rechargeables. This is plain annoying how theya re doing.
thatdude90210 01-09-07, 03:01 AM NiMH rechargeables should work fine. I'm using Rayovac 2500mAh NiMH with no issues.

Last thing to try is to clear out all the remotes and resync them. I think you got some interference with bluetooth if the freshest batteries work.
SpeedyHTPC 01-09-07, 12:28 PM Back to the topic..
Yesterday I received my second set of remote and nunchuck. Played two player boxing with my wife. Wow this is more tiring than single player! Went back to bowling. That seems to be our fav.
Ras Thavas 01-09-07, 02:01 PM I'm using regular NiMih batteries with no problems.
crownvic96 01-09-07, 02:52 PM how do you get those side shots and hooks. i can do body and head shots but every now and then he'll kind of do a weird hook into the body and sometimes i've seen uppercuts or something. anyway to do this or is it random?
thatdude90210 01-09-07, 03:25 PM how do you get those side shots and hooks. i can do body and head shots but every now and then he'll kind of do a weird hook into the body and sometimes i've seen uppercuts or something. anyway to do this or is it random?
It's not random. But to get them consistently, you have to sorta exaggerate the movement, making sure the controller move enough. For uppercut, the remote should swing from parallel to the floor to 90 degree with the floor. And for side punches, the remote should go from parallel with your body to 90 degree from your body.
SpeedyHTPC 01-11-07, 01:07 PM Exaggerate the movement and also punch low on the sides.
As a result, I keep getting slapped by the cord between the remote and the nunchuck. that label on the cable near the remote also slaps my wrists when Im doing body blows.
It seems that the strategy changes when you are about 700-800. Below that you can do head blows. Above that you do body blows and I've won rounds quickly with body blows in pro levels.
Upper cuts although drains the stamina quicker they dont come on all that often as body blows.
Also if you move side to side, the other opponent seems to get "tired" from missed punches.
I think thats what those slight pauses are.
BASHERS33 01-13-07, 10:49 AM I keep getting tangled up in that stupid cord too. It ahs messed me up in the middle of fights ebcause they would keep hitting me while I was tyring to untangle it. lol And sometimes it picks up almost NO punches, yet I still somehow have won every time. I thought I was finally going to lose one becuase I couldnt get it to punch at all and they knocked me down until the count was about to say 9 then I got up and somehow won.
BASHERS33 01-24-07, 11:38 AM This is getting so annoying, I swear. On bowling in one game I was doing fine then like 10-20 minutes later it was abck to not working properly! How in the world it changes that quick, I have no clue. I would flat out point it to the right and it would go left again. I aimed it down the middle, still left. Before all of that it was going right when I pointed it right.
Great tips for boxing were just posted in the Wii Sports Training Camp Thread (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=9565855&&#post9565855).
