i need some components...what does everyone have. I was gonna get some import ones from hongkong for 10$ or so...any experience with them?

The Wii can only output 480p60 at max which is extremely easy for any cable to do correctly. Heck, people were modding their composite cable into component cables and using paperclips for pins and the results were great. Seriously, any cable should be as good as the next unless you're running your cable beneath some giant electric motor/compressor (ie. your refrigator) and require insane EM shielding.

Posted in another thready, but relevant here as well...

I just took back my $60 Psyclone cables to Best Buy and replaced them with the $25 React cables which are the same as the $20 Psyclone cables.

Here's what I found.

The $60 softened the image a little, and as a result the $25 cables produce a clearer image. It's most noticeable in the Wii menu and Wii store. With the $60 cable the text had poor contrast and was fuzzy. With the $25 cable the text was crisp and clear, well as much as can be expected for 480p at 106".

I don't know why the more expensive cables would produce a softened image like that, the only thing I could think was that they were so over-built that they were actually introducing resistance and coupled with the 35ft of RG-6 I have running from my receiver to my projector as component cable that the signal from the Wii wasn't strong enough to push it that distance.

But who knows. All I can say is the $60 cables physically looked incredible. Probably one of the nicest looking console cables ever built. However the $25 cable, while pretty vanilla looking in construction, produced the better image.

Go figure.

Always good to know that it's still not worth the cash for the 'godly' cables :)

I saw the Psyclone Wii Component cables at Walmart for $20 although it said nothing about upconverting to 480p. Will these upconvert?

480p isn't upconverting - it's just transmitting the 480p signal from the Wii.
Any Component cables will be able to do this.

since DLP is fixed resolution, it will have to scale all input sources. the wii must be set to 480p, but not all games at the moment support it.

Although Nintendo said they would be, it is apparently not true. There's a sticky at the top of this forum with an excel file that lists all the games and what they support, and there is this website as well.

Thanks for the link - so no 480p for Rayman. It looks like all NCL's output will be 480p though.
