View Full Version : how is Wii availability looking in near future?
BrianEK 01-02-07, 10:03 PM My wife won some award at work where she gets $250 in gift cards to split up how she wants by going to a web site and picking between a bunch of stores. She has said she wants a Wii, but the only electonrics place to pick from that would even carry Wii is Amazon.com. I was wondering if anybody heard or has seen how the availability of the Wii is now that the holidays have past. I hope they come in stock soon or my wife will get impatient and want to use the gift card on clothes!!!!
BoSoxMole 01-02-07, 11:07 PM It won't be awhile until stores have them where you can just walk in at any moment at get one. You just have to be at the right place at the right time.
I just happaned to be in Target and saw one. I snatched it right up.
ajwillys 01-03-07, 07:08 AM Any chance you can buy this at Amazon.com with your gift card?

GI JELLO 01-03-07, 07:56 AM Rumor is the Wii won't be readily available until March.

If you get a Wii you'll want games to go with it, and games are not in short supply. You could put that money towards games, maybe a VC point card (usually unrecommended since buying online from Nintendo doesn't impose sales tax), and controllers.
On a somewhat unrelated note I walked into a Circuit City last night and they had PS3s available. Many have already reported this situation but last night was the first time I experienced it first hand. Sony's not yet producing these things in massive numbers so maybe these experiences combined show that there really is a limited demand for them.

Also unrelated and OT, I was in Target and EB Games yesterday and both had multiple PS3's and no Wii's. Target seemed to have about five or six but I didn't see how many EB had.

I have experienced the same thing. every store that i have gone to find the Wii I asked "hey, got any Wii's?" and they respond "nope, not yet but we have ps3's in stock..." grrrr :(

Same here. Meijer last night had (6) 60 gig PS3's, of course no Wii's. I'm striking out everywhere I go.
Caswell 01-03-07, 10:58 AM BestBuy.com has PS3's online right now, no bundle required.
Good grief. I you had told me two months ago that in January I wouldn't even have seen a Wii for sale and passed on multiple chances to buy a PS3 I wouldn't have believed you.
GI JELLO 01-03-07, 02:01 PM I was in my local Gamestop this afternoon during lunch and just got in two Wiis. They were both gone within 15 minutes.

That is a great idea. I would think it would work since it looks like they are selling those target gift cards just like any other product on their website. Then I can just go into Target and hope I catch one at some point.
I'm not sure if anyone has posted this before...but information on this site has been very accurate:
www.ps3seeker.com/wii/
Looks like it's hit or miss at this point. I'm waiting for Costco to start getting them in again...
For what its worth, I was told by a fairly reliable source that Gamestop is expecting shipments of wii's to begin with regularity towards the end of next week.
