I have posted this in the hitachi hdt51 forum but was wondering if other brands also have this problem. I recently noticed a vertical red line in the right corner of my screen of my Hitachi 55hdt51 plasma. It about 16" long and about 4" from the edge of the screen. It is not a source problem I checked all sources, same problem. I recently had my first attempt to repair under my extended warranty with no luck. The line came back after a couple of days and hasn't gone away since. The service repairman told me that most plasmas aren't repairable and that he will have to come back to put in more parts at least 10 times before they will replace it. (probably shouldn't have told me that) I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if it is only a Hitachi thing. Any input on this or how to deal with extended warranty service would be appreciated. ;)

Update: Just set up next appointment for 1-17-07. I guess 3 more weeks of no television. This sucks  Has anyone had any luck getting something like this fixed or am I just going to have to wait until they throw all the parts at it and not have a tv for most of the next 6 months  Somebody HELP!

I have seen a similar phenomena on LCD screens. A vertical line of pixels will suddenly go red or turn color. I believe each line of pixels has its own "driver" or amp and one can become disconnected or go bad. I have no idea if what you are seeing with a plasma is the same problem.

Doing more research I've found alot more people with similar problems. Just wondering if anyone has advice dealing with extended warranty.

Does anyone know if or where I could find which plasmas are the most reliable/least reliable. I am probably going to have to do an exchange on mine because of the red line issue I am having.
