Literally! I had it connected for component HDTV before it went to HD Leeza. darn, I could barely touch it. I'm not using it now--not going to risk a fire! Anyone experience or hear of that with Algolith Flea, analogue version.

Yes, I had one for about a year, it runs VERY hot. According to Algolith this is not an issue.

My Flea HDMI runs hot but not to the point where it is untouchable.

Thanks for the response. Well, I may have squandered the $1000+ but I'm not keeping that thing plugged in. Maybe I'll connect it and when i watch TV, I'll plug it in??

You could do that. Algolith has released a new firmware that allows the user to press the main button for three seconds that turns the unit off, instead of unpluging it. Firmware upgrade is on the Algolith site. The only "downside" to the upgrade is it does not allow the user to switch between DNR and MNR, but it does add a contrast enhancer.

Thanks for the tip!! If I reconnect it, I'll place it on the outside of my cabinet, more cool air!

I once worried about the heat being an issue to, try not to worry about it, I eventually stopped touching it to see if it was hot / cold. Just enjoy the unit, its great.

If you think the Flea is hot, you should touch some components found in many PCs. They can give you a second-degree burn, but even that isn't going to cause a fire. The heat on the Flea is nothing to worry about.

The Flea has some very powerful processing going on inside it and the small package size makes it inevitable that it will run warm. The unit should never get so hot that you can't handle it though and if that is the case then you should talk to your dealer about a replacement.

Does it have RS-232 control or are you using a IR remote that can use a macro to control it?

Mark,

How is the room coming?

Hi Jeff,
The stretch fabric wall with sound panels are going up. Waiting for the columns, ceiling treatment, crown moldings, and new sets of doors to be made/installed. See room pdf.
Happy New Year!

Why not add an 120 mm PC fan (Yate Loon L series is quiet and moves decent air for a cheap solution--there are more expensive and more efficient 120 mm fans) hooked to the air intake vents using a 12v wallwart AC/DC converter?
