I have a crt now with a 52x92 fixed screen, seating 222" back from screen, some ambient light, center of screen 40" from ceiling, center of proj lense 15" from ceiling.I am on preorder for a JVC RS1 and looking at both the HP and SS in either 54x96 and 58x104.According to the bale calc. with 535 lumens ,58x104, 2.8 gain, min. throw I should see 35.6 fl, that seems high, but thats something else.
I have 2 8 1/2 x 11 samples of each screen and have been positioning them around my present screen and this is what I am seeing,at the top the SS seems to slightly yellow out the whites but is brighter than the hp,the hp from off angle appears to light up very bright as it rejects light but its not visible from the front, as the samples get lower it seems the hp loses it power till at the bottom it dissapears with no visible gain. The new proj has to ceiling mounted, and will be close to mininium throw, which should work better???????????, I realize samples are not the best test, but I was hoping for input from others with a similar situation. Is 35.6 fl real?????????
Thanks
