Is there a cable that would let me connect the audio output on my laptop to my receiver (I'm assuming in via red/white stereo cables)?

Thanks a lot.

You need something like this.

255-045 6-Ft. 2-RCA Plugs to 3.5 Stereo Plug $7.00 (http://www.pacificcable.com/Picture_Page.asp?DataName=255-045)

You can probably get one for less at Radio Shack, Kmart, or even your local Dollar Store.

Some laptops have digital output capability. If that is an option for the laptop and receiver, it may be a better choice.

You'd probably have to check the laptop documentation or with the mfg. to find out if that is an option. Unless, of course, you see a digital output jack on the case.

I think it's just the ordinary Dell sound card, so I'm guessing no?

It's hard to say. Even amongst the same models of laptop there seems to be the possibility of a myriad of different options.

In any case, the cable in one of the previous posts should get you going with an analog signal.

I just bought a Pioneer VXS84TSXi receiver which has a USB input. A standard USB
A to B cable can be connected to a PC or laptop for streaming audio from the
computer through the receiver. You don't say what receiver you have but depending on the inputs you might be able to do something like I'm doing. I haven't actually tried this though I have it hooked up. As I have 5 or 6 other
sources for music and have only had the receiver for a few days it just hasn't
been a priority but when I get around to testing it I'll let you know how it sounds.

I have the Panny XR55...don't think it has USB, I'll check when I get home. Otherwise I'll just hit the RatShack on the way home.
