Hello, The voltage in my home is approx. 110 - 113. Is this considered low for my equipment? Will it harm, or prevent my equipment from working at it's full potential? Any info would be appreciated.

I doubt it's doing your equipment any favors... How about a Line Conditioner / Automatic Voltage Regulator? Tripp Lite makes a nice one- LC1800. Some of their UPS systems regulate as well. Keep in mind where this info is coming from, but it might be worth a try: http://www.tripplite.com/support/faq/brownouts.cfm Targus 01-03-07, 03:07 PM No, that's not too low. It's well within the 5% tolerance allowed. myfunnybones 01-03-07, 05:52 PM Thanks.. I'll look into purchasing a line conditioner Targus 01-03-07, 07:54 PM why? davehancock 01-04-07, 04:50 PM Let me chime in: 1) It will not harm the equipment if the voltage is in the range that you talk about. 2) There is no need to regulate it if you do not see any effects from that. It used to be with CRT sets that low line voltage would result in a picture that was too small and you could see the edges. That was one of the reasons for a lot of overscan. myfunnybones 01-04-07, 05:27 PM Thanks for the info... Targus 01-04-07, 05:34 PM It used to be with CRT sets that low line voltage would result in a picture that was too small and you could see the edges. ...and then they started including regulated power supplies....back in the early 60's. |
