Anyone have any thoughts/experience with this SACD Player, Sony SACD Player (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-tWSbeiKnJSf/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=53100&I=158SCDC595) ? I currently have the Sony Sony DVP-NS75H as my DVD player, but it does not support SACD playback, so I am looking to purchase a dedicated SACD Player in the near future. Are there any better/comparable SACD Players in this price range? Or would it be wiser to just go ahead and get another DVD player such as the Oppo 970HD? How would the sound compare to the Sony dedicated SACD player and the picture to the DVD player I currently have? Thanks!

I'm happy with my 595 and went so far as to have it modified for $750.00. I just got it back and it now has to burn in for about 3 weeks of constant use for it for peak performmance...at least this is my belief and that of a pretty substantial group of well informed users. The result is said to be somewhere between a $2000.00 and $20,000.00 player. No kidding. Google it and find out. I'm just hoping they all know what they are talking about cause I have three weeks to find out, though it already sounds better.

Forgot to mention that the modifications were performed by Tube Research Labs (TRL) in Washington State.

Why would anyone chose to modify this player?

Better yet, why would anyone choose to resurrect a thread that had no replies and was over two years old? Let the dead sleep.

Because it's a very good CD/SACD player at its full MSRP of $150.00 and an awesome deal when you can pick up a refurbished one directly from Sony for $60.00 (when available). See 23 page thread on the refurbished Sony SCD-CE595 at head-fi.org (http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f7/refurbished-sony-scd-ce595-sacd-cd-changer-90-00-shipped-163225/)

If you want a SACD-capable player not based on a DVD player, this is the only game in town for under $500.00.

And that head-fi thread is anywhere from 2-3 years old depending where you are. Once again we've got people replacing parts with other parts and having no idea whatsoever how that's affecting the player's measurements. But...so long as you let all the parts break in, it'll all be well.
