Hi,
I just purchased a BenQ PE 8720 projector. I'm looking to buy an upscaling dvd player to go with it. My budget is about $250.00, so it looks like the Oppo 981 is my best option (Note: if there are better options in this price range, please let me know.) From what I've read here, the Oppo machines pretty much rule this price range.
Here's my question: I see that my PE 8720 has the DCDi Faroudja chip already in it. I know that the Oppo also has this same chip.
Does it make sense to buy the Oppo and upscale the signal to 720p before it gets to the projector or should I just use the upscaler in the projector and forget buying the Oppo altogether? I'd hate to waste money if I don't have to.
BTW, is anyone else out there using this player/projector combo? If so, how do you like it? Macroblocking an issue with this combo?
