Hi,

Has anyone here seen Sharp DT-500 in action? I knew DT-500 has slightly different rez. vs. Mits HD-1000. What else except rez.? Is DT-500 similar with Mits HD-3000?

I just picked up a Z3000 last night which is pretty much the same as the DT-500. It's my first DLP projector and so far the picture looks amazing. I wanted to check out the HD1000 first since it was cheaper but couldn't find a local dealer. I've got about 15 hours on it and everything has looked killer. Been using an A2 for playback, HDDVD looks incredible, DVD is great too but hard to switch to from HD. The resolution flexibility of the 1280x768 was another factor as the shift is useful. I'm projecting on a wall right now so I think when I get a screen it will be even better. Let me know if you compare the two.

Cheers,
Rob

I asked a similar question over on the Sharp XR10X thread yesterday. Due to the great success of the 10X as a XGA projector crossing over into home theater. I was wondering how the DT-500 matched up with projectors like the HD-3000. And also if the Sharp loyal followers were thinking of it as a eventual upgrade from the 10X.

Right now its over twice the 10X cost and 1.5 the HD-3000 thru some of the box stores.

The thoughts over there were given the same price point the DT-500 would be a no brainer pick.

The extra pixels with it being a 15:9 projector are nice for image shift but I’m more interested in being able to shoot a true XGA 1024x768 to it without having any scale.

If Sharp can get the retail cost down just a little more they should have a winner IMO.

Looking forward to hearing more from the owners of the DT-500

Thanks Rob for the feedback on your Z3000. It seems to me there are very few DT-500 owners here. I couldn't even find any thread about DT-500 when I did search on this forum. There is no review on the projectercenter either. I hope I can see more people responding this thread. Thanks

I have had mine for about 6 hours and it is my first projector but I love it. The price I got on it from the nation wide warehouse store was what made me decide to buy it. It is essentially the Sharp Z3000/Eiki 1600t/Marantz VP4001 minus an extra iris setting and 2500 less contrast.

As picky as I am, I figured I would have returned it after an hour or 2 BUT I will keep it!

It is projecting onto a Draper 106" 1300 Onyx screen at about 12 feet.

Hope the input helps.
