I was just browsing Google and came upon this page:
http://www.plasmafaq.co.uk/

I found the history rather interesting, it says:
"The inventers of the technology were Donald L. Bitzer and H. Gene Slottow. They were both members at the University of Illinois, and created the plasma display around 1964. Plasma screens did sell quite well in the 1970s, but as CRT displays became cheaper the plasma screen just couldnt compete."

I have never seen a plasma display from the 1970's. Anyone know where I can find pics? Scans? Brand/model numbers? Were they even color? I don't want to buy one, but I sure would like to see what they were like. I've searched this forum and Google and came up with nothing. I grew up in the 80's, my dad had tons of brochures for 1970's A/V equipment. I sure don't remember plasma TV's being in any of them!

I do remember 1980's laptops could come with amber monochrome plasma displays. I've never found pics or references to them on the web, but I do remember them in the computer magazines back then.
