I have a perfectly working 40ft DVI cable connected to my Sanyo PLV-Z2 from my HD cable box (6412). Last night it even worked with a HDMI to DVI adapter with my PS3

Seeing the shift to HDMI is there any value in replacing this cable with a HDMI cable.

It appears that if I use another DVI to HDMI adapter with a future HDMI projector it should be identical to a HDMI cable except for the additional connectors involved.

For us front projection users the audio parts of HDMI dont mean much. Is there some other aspect that I am missing.

Thanks.

To me that is the same. When you are sending digital over a cable it works or it doesn't, in almost all cases. So if you get a signal with using the adapters you are getting the digital signal from the source to the display. Your in.

That almost all cases is that we have seen sparklies sometimes with certain cables over another, I'm not sure if that was ever broken down as to why that can happen. Sparklies are little color pixels (I think purple usually) sparkling on and off on your screen. If you don't see those you are once again, in.

HDMI theoretically can trasnmt a signal a longer distance, but if you aren;t having any problems no reason to switch. www.monoprice.com is the place to buy.
