View Full Version : Blackout Fabric ~68" Wide?

I followed the example in one of the DIY threads to build an aluminum frame for a screen. The actual frame came out almost perfect with only a few areas for improvement should I attempt to build another.

The only problem: I cannot find Blackout material (or other suitable but inexpensive material) that is wide enough to cover the frame.

The screen dimensions are 88" x 66" so I need a piece of material 90 by 68 at a minumum to warp around and afix to the frame. Any suggestions where I might be able to find such material? Or is there a tried and true method available to use two narrower sections of blackout and eliminate the seam?

Any suggestions would be great! If you have any questions of me, please free to ask!

Thanks,

DH

I believe BOC can be found in wider widths but don’t have a location for you at this time.

Canvas comes in widths up to 144 inches and makes a very nice screen material but requires painting. I have a link below in my signature to my 72x96 canvas screen and also a photo build link.

Bud-

If you know of a location that would be great! I am looking into Dazian, but I fear they are probably going to be very expensive!!

Thanks for your help!

Hello,

I purchased B.O. from Dazian on the West Coast. I purchased 110" wide X 4 yards long delivered to Colorado for less than $70.00. About $15.00 a yard. I made a 2.40 A.R. screen 60" high X 144" wide. Used the "smooth side". Have an Sim 2 HT300+ projector. Looks great !!!

Rosebrand (http://www.rosebrand.com/A_Com/showprod.cfm?&DID=6&CATID=12&ObjectGroup_ID=84) has canvas as well as actual screen material. Twin White is actual screen material that comes in the width you need, but it can also be painted if you desire.

The link I provide is to their screen material, but look around at the material section and at their canvas.

Thanks for the replies. Dazian sent samples to me yesterday, so I eagerly await their arrival for testing. I will check out Rosebrand as well!! Again many thanks, your help puts me one step closer to completing this project!
