So I see in a post from a while back that someone came up with some code to transcode and RSS feed shows from DVArchive for synching with iPod's or PSP's.

I've been looking into doing something similar but with streamed output instead of files. DVArchive for example has the ability to stream files to other machines. You just cut and paste the url from the DVArchive web interface into whatever media player you want. The cool thing with that is that you don't have to have the file on the PC with DVArchive, it will stream files right off the replay device directly. (Less wasted disk space in my opinion)

My question is ... Getting the file info for PC hosted DVArchive is trivial ... but does anyone know how to get what the DVArchive link would look like to stream from the Replay ... without going through the DVArchive web interface?

I see references to some custom template capability for DVArchive and it looks like this is written in Apache Velocity, but I see no references how to tell DVArchive to make it all get used.

The end-game I'm working towards is for VLC to pick up an RSS feed (using it's podcast feature) of stream targets for all the shows on my replay. There's an app for the PSP that has VLC transcode streams directly down to it. (Works both on disk files and streams .... no waiting for a file conversion ... no importing to a memory stick ... yay!)

I'd be happy just being able to export the data down to something that I can convert into an m3u playlist file.

Thanks ahead of time for any pointers on hacking DVArchive or some other app.

You might want to post this in the DVArchive forums. Gerry might be happy to give pointers there. Go to DVArchive.org
