Hello. I'm looking to customize a new audio cabinet that I recently purchased (for aesthetics and better air flow). Essentially, I'm looking to remove the 2 front glass panels on the door and replace them with perforated metal grills (black). I'm thinking round, 1/8" staggered holes. The sheets would be ~ 15" x 19". I searched on line for some sheet metal sites and I've received quotes of ~$50./each! Does anyone know where I can get this type of product at lower prices? Thanks!

I found some at Home Depot and used it on my doors. I built the unit myself and it has worked out quite nice. I used the silver color but you can get it in black also. Here is pictures of it. http://gallery.avsforum.com/showphoto.php/photo/23277/cat/500/ppuser/7603106/sl/s
All I needed to do was fold it to 'cut' it to shape. Very easy.

Call McNichols 1-800-237-3820

Order 20ga 5/32 round, 3/16 staggered steel. When you get them, wash them in dishwashing detergent (wear gloves because they are sharp), dry them with towels & blow dryer (to prevent rust), then spray paint both sides 2 coats of clear gloss enamel.

These have 51% open surface so you will have great ventilation, acoustics, and visual transparency. 20 gauge is the thinnest you should go.

I researched this for several months, BTW.

See top of page 27. Note that it is not a raw metal, and is already coated. Select Products is primarily a distributor to custom car audio shops, but they also sell directly to consumers. All you have to do is setup an account.

couple different styles to choose from, any size you need. plus you can have them bend the edges.
