I have a 5.5 year-old Sony KD-34XBR2 and it has served me well. But on Monday it refused to turn on. I unplugged all the a/v cords and checked the outlet, even left it unplugged overnight, but still nothing. I called the original dealer (Tweeters) and they want $400 minimum to do an in-home repair. So what are my options?

I was hoping there might simply be a fuse in the back that I could change, but no. I could call around and see how much in-store repair costs, but the TV weighs 200 lb so it's a major project to move it (safely!). Is it even worth repairing, even if I could manage it for less than $400?

At this point, I'm leaning towards advertising it on Craigslist, e.g. $100 "and you pick it up." It's been well maintained all these years and I even have the original box and packing. It'd be a great deal for somebody who knows how to fix them themselves, wouldn't it?

$400 is way too much to repair a power supply. Most repair centers usually charge around $100-$150 for it. Call elsewhere.

I'm not sure it makes sense to put any money (other than a $1 fuse) into such a set.
