It may not be to everybodys taste but I enjoyed the Island and would love to see it in HD. I,m sure its a dreamworks movie but here in the UK its distributed by Warner Bros. Anyone heard anything?

Well Dreamworks is part of Paramount and Dreamworks held the local distribution for most of their movies, so we have 2 possible ways for us to get it without requiring a company switching over.

I'd certainly upgrade my copy if they release it. :)

Speaking of Michael Bay Movies, Dreamworks better get their act together on HD DVD releases Gotta get me the Transformers Movie when its available!!!!

The PQ on the SD DVD was as close to HD as I've ever seen on a SD DVD.
If it does make it to HD-DVD it could become a "reference title" if authored correctly.

Count me in as a buyer for the HD release when /if it happens. Being a Canadian and having them screw us over for the DD 5.1 for a 2.0 track i would be more then happy to buy the HD-DVD (never bought the sd-dvd) Cool movie and awesome action scenes. Although up here Universal had the video/dvd rights to the film

This movie is great! Have it on recorded HDTV, but would change it for a HD DVD if that comes out:)

Movie was pretty good and looked great on HBOHD via the Sony Pearl. Scarlett was definitely working with a trainer before that movie. She looked darn good.

I think I recorded it to my DVR as it was an excellent looking movie for the big screen.

i think Scarlett looks better in LIT than any other movie she had been in. Yum.

First half of the movie was pretty good but then Michael Bay had to screw it up with all the meaningless lame action (plus there were a ton of plot holes).

I have Lost In Translation on DTHEATER! Yes baby! :eek: Anyway I would love The Island in HD as well. Of course there aren't any good nude scenes but what are you going to do?

"The Island" staring Michael Caine is one wild movie.

cybersoga, Logans Run does not look that good in HD, while The Island looks very good. The age and condition of the film shows on this classic. Much better than SD, but still soft.
Maybe it just an old transfer and the masters are in much better condition or a result of bitrate starving but I dont think so. Sorry to burst your bubble. I did enjoy both in HD though since I cant handle SD anymore. (A curse since I have 1000+ DVD's)

Oh yes! I hope this movie appears in HD DVD or BD.
The cinematography in this movie is fantastic. I just loved the colours captured on film. And the sound mixing during the chase scenes are good.

DreamWorks titles will be held back for the most part till the Universal distribution deal expires. Soros, Paramount and Universal would all have to be paid. THey don't want to do that because that's like 25-30% off the top
