I,m sure its a dreamworks movie but here in the UK its distributed by Warner Bros. Anyone heard anything? Well Dreamworks is part of Paramount and Dreamworks held the local distribution for most of their movies, so we have 2 possible ways for us to get it without requiring a company switching over. PCMusicGuy 01-05-07, 08:04 AM I'd certainly upgrade my copy if they release it. :) highdefsw 01-05-07, 08:24 AM I'll love to see The Island on HD dvd also, great flick! JulesH 01-05-07, 08:43 AM Yeah! I saw it on HBOHD and it looked really good. S.J. ... :) in HD :) cybersoga 01-05-07, 09:14 AM I'd much rather have "Logan's Run" AnthonyB 01-05-07, 09:23 AM Which "The Island"? hobbs47 01-05-07, 09:25 AM Scarlett....yummmmmmm. AaronSCH 01-05-07, 09:34 AM This title really has the potential to be a stand out release. I am still scratching my head over its failure at the box office. It was terrific. Many questions will be answered at CES in just a few days. GC19360 01-05-07, 10:00 AM Which "The Island"? The Michael Bay movie with Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson Speaking of Michael Bay Movies, Dreamworks better get their act together on HD DVD releases Gotta get me the Transformers Movie when its available!!!! replayrob 01-05-07, 01:22 PM This title really has the potential to be a stand out release. The PQ on the SD DVD was as close to HD as I've ever seen on a SD DVD. If it does make it to HD-DVD it could become a "reference title" if authored correctly. HomerJay 01-05-07, 06:18 PM I'd definitely upgrade! I enjoyed this movie. highdefsw 01-05-07, 10:38 PM I too would love to see this on HD DVD, GREAT movie! nyg 01-05-07, 10:58 PM I love the movie too, would love it in HD! invadergir 01-05-07, 11:55 PM Count me in as a buyer for the HD release when /if it happens. Being a Canadian and having them screw us over for the DD 5.1 for a 2.0 track i would be more then happy to buy the HD-DVD (never bought the sd-dvd) Cool movie and awesome action scenes. Although up here Universal had the video/dvd rights to the film Amiable-Akuma 01-06-07, 12:13 AM "You still think there's an island?" ^^^that line has stuck in my head since the trailer for some reason Tukkis 01-06-07, 07:28 AM This should be a reference disc if released. Hopefully it will feature TrueHD Art Sonneborn 01-06-07, 09:11 AM All I can think about is Scarlett in that white body suit. In fact , I watched that movie two or three times and that's still about all I can remember. A powerful image. :o Art AaronSCH 01-06-07, 09:19 AM Yeah Art, a little hotter than that other Scarlett that put new meaning to window dressing! Anyway, I hope she makes it to HD DVD this year as well. lrbh 01-06-07, 11:16 AM This movie is great! Have it on recorded HDTV, but would change it for a HD DVD if that comes out:) romanesq 01-06-07, 02:11 PM Movie was pretty good and looked great on HBOHD via the Sony Pearl. Scarlett was definitely working with a trainer before that movie. She looked darn good. I think I recorded it to my DVR as it was an excellent looking movie for the big screen. jmlevy 01-06-07, 06:23 PM still enjoy staring at Sco Jo's butt in Lost in Translation better Bing 01-06-07, 07:16 PM Being a Canadian and having them screw us over for the DD 5.1 for a 2.0 track I know. I had to get a copy in Grand Forks, ND. Bing 01-06-07, 07:18 PM still enjoy staring at Sco Jo's butt in Lost in Translation better i think Scarlett looks better in LIT than any other movie she had been in. Yum. Havok410 01-07-07, 01:14 AM First half of the movie was pretty good but then Michael Bay had to screw it up with all the meaningless lame action (plus there were a ton of plot holes). joerod 01-07-07, 03:41 AM I have Lost In Translation on DTHEATER! Yes baby! Anyway I would love The Island in HD as well. Of course there aren't any good nude scenes but what are you going to do? Brimstone-1 01-07-07, 07:45 AM "The Island" staring Michael Caine is one wild movie. qz3fwd 01-07-07, 12:36 PM cybersoga, Logans Run does not look that good in HD, while The Island looks very good. The age and condition of the film shows on this classic. Much better than SD, but still soft. Maybe it just an old transfer and the masters are in much better condition or a result of bitrate starving but I dont think so. Sorry to burst your bubble. I did enjoy both in HD though since I cant handle SD anymore. (A curse since I have 1000+ DVD's) Tim Glover 01-07-07, 02:34 PM All I can think about is Scarlett in that white body suit. In fact , I watched that movie two or three times and that's still about all I can remember. A powerful image. :o Art :o Agree... BozQ 01-07-07, 03:43 PM Oh yes! I hope this movie appears in HD DVD or BD. The cinematography in this movie is fantastic. I just loved the colours captured on film. And the sound mixing during the chase scenes are good. WickyWoo 01-07-07, 04:02 PM DreamWorks titles will be held back for the most part till the Universal distribution deal expires. Soros, Paramount and Universal would all have to be paid. THey don't want to do that because that's like 25-30% off the top |
