Just now got HD DVD Bourne Supremacy and a $10* graphic novel I really wanted at Buy.com for $17 including shipping.

A lot of us have had less than great experiences with Buy.com in the past few months. I'm still waiting for my "lost" copy of Christmas Vacation HD-DVD from Buy.com to show up. It was ordered 12/8/2006. ... it's almost a month now!

Signed up too but when i tried to buy a HD DVD it said that DVDEmpire don't ship to my address (Spain). It says on the website that they DO ship to Spain for $5 per disc :(

Not me. I've placed ~15-20 seperate orders taking advantage of their $20 off $50 deal, mostly for books, but also for a lot of HD-DVDs and a few dvd box sets, and I haven't experienced anything but great service. That's just my experience though.

HOWEVER, a word of caution. Since I thought this was for new "Google Checkout" customers only, I created a new account just to do this. While trying to checkout and input shipping address, cc info etc, every time the screen refreshed, it kept defaulting to OVERNIGHT SHIPPING!!! WTF, DVD Empire? Are you trying to pull a fast one here??

Anyone use the same email address from previous Google Checkout purchases, such as those back in 2006 (sounds so long ago) from Buy.com? Or is this new $10 offer truly for new accounts?

I used most of my orders for books too. I would say 1/3 of them came in pretty beat up, the rest perfect.
Overall it was worth it but I was basically paying scratch & dent prices, and that's some of what I got.

The experience definitely didn't convince me to trun to Buy.com for anything other than another ridiculous sale. In fact, I'll probably be avoiding them from now on. In that respect, the sale might have worked against them.

I'll check out DVDEmpire. Never used them before but I'd like to get Deer Hunter as well.

I've had nothing but trouble with buy.com. Of the 6 disks I ordered in the past month and a half only 2 came within 2 weeks. 2 took over one month to get to me and I'm still waiting for the last two to get here. One got lost the other is out of stock now even though it was instock when I ordered it. I asked them to send another title instead and they refused to. I'll never buy from them again. Its not worth saving 10 bucks if it takes over a month to get the disks or dont get them at all.

Everyone might want to try Bestprices.com as well. Shipping can take a bit BUT:

1. Their prices and shipping right now are lower than Buy.com -- I ordered CASABALANCA HD-DVD for $11.99 shipped after the $10 off!

2. It works for OUT OF STOCK items as well, unlike Buy.com

I put in a new email, and kept everything else the same, and its working fine for me. Got Land of the Dead coming now! Yay for Google. Hope you find a way around your problem, cause you're missing out.

Not sure how dependable they are but I just got Goodfellas there for 12 bucks shipped. I doubt it could be any worse than buy.

However, the first order I made seems to be doing okay, if not detailed in how far the progress actually is. So, am I caught? Not that anything bad could happen from it, but if I lose out on these other two orders, I'll be so bummed. Cheap HD-DVDs FTW! Is anyone else having similar issues?

Well, while not an HD-DVD, I successfully made another purchase with the google checkout deal, and soon the new Criterion Seven Samurai will be shipped! For $23 you cannot beat that deal! Its like $53 at Best Buy and $55 at Fry's!

DVD Empire, but the $10 discount did not show up on the Google order.

I'm trying to contact them to cancel the order now.

First order came today: The Mummy on HD DVD for $12.98
Next order will ship when it is in stock. Google and Best Prices have done well by me! :D
