Is the $40 dollar difference worth it? It seems like everybody has the $60 dollar Psyclone cables, and nobody has the $20 dollar ones.

Here are the $60 dollar ones:

And here are the $20 dollar ones:

And incase anybody wants to know i saw the $20 dollar ones at Walmart.

Will the gold tips really make a difference?

People are gullible. Cables is cables.

I bought the $20 cables and they seem fine as far as I can tell. Sports are a bit more jagged, Zelda's a bit clearer, and CoD3 looks much better. The internet browser is still almost unreadable though.

Overall they have 2 advantages to the $60 cables as far as I can tell:
1. I was able to find one (actually, 10, at the walmart on Park & Tollway near Dallas)
2. They cost ony $20. I would not buy the $60 ones, was warned off MadCatz (due to the store dude saying he always had tons of returns for them), tried the Fry's brand only to find the cables melted together, and was unable to find the React ones at all.

I had to return a Madcatz universal PS1/n64/Dreamcast cable once. The picture was waaaay too dark.

the $20 ones look to be the exact same thing as the React ones, but in a different package. everyone so far seems to like the React ones just fine, including myself.

I just took back my $60 Psyclone cables to Best Buy and replaced them with the $25 React cables which are the same as the $20 Psyclone cables.

Here's what I found.

The $60 softened the image a little, and as a result the $25 cables produce a clearer image. It's most noticeable in the Wii menu and Wii store. With the $60 cable the text had poor contrast and was fuzzy. With the $25 cable the text was crisp and clear, well as much as can be expected for 480p at 106".

I don't know why the more expensive cables would produce a softened image like that, the only thing I could think was that they were so over-built that they were actually introducing resistance and coupled with the 35ft of RG-6 I have running from my receiver to my projector as component cable that the signal from the Wii wasn't strong enough to push it that distance.

But who knows. All I can say is the $60 cables physically looked incredible. Probably one of the nicest looking console cables ever built. However the $25 cable, while pretty vanilla looking in construction, produced the better image.

Go figure.
